There is no substitute for loctite, however I did have to unscrew the break rod twice before I clung on to it with loctite. I am editing I dropped my bike (high side on gravel, very low speed) and bent the peg mount on the right side. A pipe wrench bended it back to a nearly straight position. Some people in reviews refer to these as cheap junk, which I don't understand. This is definitely not the case. This was already installed on my Sportster when I bought it. We did not encounter any problems while we were driving it. I was prepared for these mid controls when I bought a new Sportster with mid controls, even though some of the reviews that I read were not good. As for the instructions, I can see why some find them confusing. I had another bike with them already installed to look at, so it was an easy fix for me. My goal is to upload a YouTube video to demonstrate the installation process. You can find the channel by searching for "Brad Can Fix It". There will be a video showing how to install.

It is very good for how much it costs. This is a very good product for me. I could not have asked for a better fit for my 2009 XL1200L. A very good chrome finish has been achieved. springs on the foot pegs were the only thing I didn't like. If you still have your old mid controls, you can use the Harley ones. Make sure you use thread lock and blue, and plan to remove the front exhaust pipe and muffler once the thread lock has dried. As the ball end of the rear brake actuator attaches to the 10mm wrench, I bent the open end in order to tighten it. The rod end bolt needs to be tightened by making a shallow bend about 15 degrees. Not having done this job before it took me about three hours. There is a feeling that the foot controls are flimsy and flex when pressure is applied. bolts provided meet the threaded criteria, however, metric and standard head tools could not be used to tighten them. While the bolt securing the adjustable rod for the brake side is threaded metric so the foot control will work with it, the tread needed to go into the rear HD It would be ideal if you succeeded in resolving these issues and solved the threading issue. The quality of what you buy is determined by the price you pay. However, it is expensive for the quality it provides. In order to replace the Factory mid controls, I used this kit. These aren't a fraction of the quality of factory but they do the job. The forward position is much better, I'm 5'11" and it feels like I'm riding a whole different bike. Added this to my '09 I am overall satisfied, but do not look for the best.
