Selected User Reviews For TCMT Engine Highway Guard Crash Bars Fits For Harley Street Glide FLHX Touring 1997-2008
No OEM part numbers are found on the TCMT Engine Guard Highway Crash Bar for Harley Touring Road King Street Glide 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019. In addition, the bar is constructed from tube of substandard quality weighing half what an OEM Harley Davidson crash bar would weigh. Yes, I am aware. bought this TCMT bar in June 2019 in order to replace the one on my Harley FLHX 2012. The weight difference was shocking to me when I received it, so I weighed them both. Don't be fooled by looks or price of the TCMT bar. The fabrication appears to be good and the bar itself appears to be attractive. In the event of a crash with an 800 pound bike, the TCMT bars probably would not hold up. I imagine they would fold into a sphere According to me, the description of this bar is inaccurate and I would like it returned. I returned the inaccuracy to them after they approved my confirmation of the mistake. To return an $81 bar, a cost of $47 was incurred. The seller or product I was considering is not a good choice. The buyer was not happy with the product!.
The order was received quickly and I'm very pleased with it. It is very similar to the stock part on my Road King, and it is considerably less costly. In order to prevent damage to the chrome, the part was packaged carefully to arrive ahead of schedule. There are also three new bolts included with it. A picture has been attached of my original engine guard next to the new part for your review as well as a shot of the bottom of the frame connecting bar. The chrome finish of this part is excellent and it will add a lot to the bike's good looks.
It's all well and good to have beautiful chrome bar counters, but they're totally bent. The mount was supposed to go on my Road glide and directionals mount, but it would not have fit. This product is way too low on the left side than the right, and I had to grind the brake side to fit into the hole (poor craftsmanship) so I can't use it. Also, I bought it a couple of months before it was due, so I cannot Clearly, the $220 at HD would not have been justified if I had known the item Additionally, pipes are much lighter in weight than HD. Those looking for a bar for the money and don't care if it's crooked will find a great deal here. There is a reason I'm here! I find it to be so useless.
Despite the physical appearance of the engine guard being undetected, it arrived in a timely manner without any blemishes. Matte blacks have a more striking coloration than gloss blacks. The engine guard that is available aftermarket is lighter than OEM equipment. I had a problem attaching the engine guard mounts to the engine since they were rounded instead of oval like what was originally on the vehicle. For my mounts to fit properly, I needed to dremel them. The product quality is noticeably inferior to the original equipment made by Anheim as well as the rest of my purchase as a whole. I would not purchase the product again based on the totality of my purchase.
There is an indication that it is black on this order. There is no indication whether the surface is glossy or matte. A satin finish was what I wanted, but I got a The tooling marks where the tube was bent are another thing I do not like about it. I don't see any tool marks on the original chrome one. Those who are thinking about ordering one of these should be aware of these two things. I was able to install it easily and it seemed to work well.
Good fit and finish, but not heavy enough for a touring bike. I am thin- It consists of tubing that runs along the wall. As far as my leg is concerned, it would not have protected me as well as an OEM crashbar would have. 850 pounds of gear may not hold it up if it comes tumbling down.
Compared to what I was expecting, the chrome was outstanding. I bought this for my 2004 Road King and it fits Several reviewers complained they had to use jacks and wrestle the bolt on, but I started the top bolt and the bottom holes lined up perfectly the first time. It took literally five minutes or less to install. I would definitely buy from them.
I used the old bolts and nuts, but other than that it fit well. The third bolt had a tight fit. I used a screwdriver to pull it into place. I love the way this turned out!.
