As part of the bar, you will find four screws and four washers, but their purpose is unclear since they do not match the holes in the bar. Since I had bought a similar model for my older Sportster, I decided the hardware would not be a necessity for me. As you wait for your crash bar to arrive, go to the hardware store and purchase two 3/8" drives while you are there. The following items are needed 16 stainless steel button head bolts (larger head with an Allen wrench hole) and 2 each of type Lock washers made from stainless steel are 8 inches long. In order to mount the lower mounting point, you must purchase the bolts you just bought. Two bolts already exist that reach through the crash bar and the existing engine mount on the upper mounting point however, they are not long enough to reach completely through both things. Also, I expected it to be a little bit wider, my previous Crash Bar on my Sportster was wider than the foot rests on my bike. This one is narrower than the mounted foot rests on my bike.
This product is not only of good quality and low cost, but it came with instructions and took me less than 5 minutes to assemble on my motorcycle (compared to what It is great to deal with the customer service team. **The only con is the bolts that come with them. The seller should really pay attention to this. If you are going to provide the bolts, make sure that the bolts are the right size. Otherwise, you are throwing away money without adding value to the product. You might as well remove them and only include the product that price. You will have to buy new bolts and spend an additional $10 for that. A detailed list of HD's spec can be found on its.
There is a rigid piece at the front of the forks, and you can't turn the forks or sideways completely, and the bottom mounting plate holes are incorrectly sized so you can only use a single screw. My request for a return from the seller was due to the fact that it did not fit. Following that, I received an email filled with gibberish that did not make any sense As far as contacting amazon, they did everything in their power, but the seller refuses to respond, but continues to send emails that make no sense. It is worth the extra cost for a good highway bar and it will actually fit your bike. I gave the seller only one star because of the poor customer service he provided.
I believe the hardware itself is too large, as well. It makes me happy to know that there are no problems for those who do not have any. I opened the box (a necessity) and removed the guard and am surprised to see that the unit is rusty. Since this unit is unused, I have requested a FULL refund due to the fact that it arrived like this. will follow this up since seller is said to have excellent customer service. I hope this is true. Thanks so much!.
It just a guard for an engine. It is not wide enough to be considered a crash bar, will not protect the shifter or brake pedal. I believe it is a 3/8 standard bolt
that you will need to secure the bottom of the engine guard. I think the bolts that come with it are metric, and though they are long enough, they will not thread in the bottom hole. In addition, I put a lock nut in between the guard and the frame on the lower side, since it did not quite fit perfectly.
Once installed, it appears to be good.
Acknowledging that it was I who was in error in my review. Although I will say, after a short back and forth discussion with the company, my complaints were resolved and a free shipping label was provided. Therefore, this company is reputable. Even though I was completely at fault, they decided to take the return with no problem. The product is fine. Yeah, it could be tighter on the rubber part, but that's simple to solve. This is no big deal. This is a good option to consider. I can fit my 17 sportster without any issues.
Good quality, good hole alignment. Despite loving the guard, I was dissatisfied with the enclosed mounting bolts, they were too large. I tried using the suggested 3/8", but was still uncomfortable. It has been the same problem for a while now. I still cannot figure out what size the lower bolt and thread should be.
Does anybody have another suggestion for size?.
I had to adjust it for hours to get it to I could not screw them in because they were weird sizes and did not fit. A new set of screws was needed. The bike fit perfectly on the 2013 iron sportster in terms of fit. The upper screws used were from the stock. The ones at the bottom caused the most However, it is a good product. It is sturdy and of.
