What kind of plastic are they?

You are not going to find them made of plastic. I had trouble with the bolt head covers on all four. Fits great on the Street Glide Special 2017. Only downside was the Allen screws on the bolt head covers. Eventually I will buy another cover for the bolt cap.

Can it be used for the 2016 Street Glider Special?

It is the #7789 application that is for the '16 FHLXS. I'm sorry, I can't be more helpful.

We have problems with the In terms of the cover itself, it's very good, but the nut covers are pretty bad

For the four nut covers, first of all, 2 of the set screws had to be worked for about 12 hr to get them to the proper position. In two cases, the set screws wouldn't even begin to fix, and silicone had to be used to fix them. My contact with the manufacturer resulted in the usual response someone will be notified. The way you conduct business is extremely poor.

Despite their ugly appearance, they do cover the The Covers for the 2017 Street Glide Special were great, apart from the missing allen bolts on the bullet caps
