Jug Cap

Questions & Answers

To remove the red cap and install the hose, what size torx wrench do I need?

There's no need for a Torx wrench. Simply use a 1/2-drive ratchet or extension to complete the task.

What size O-ring should I order if I need a replacement? ring? Or does anyone know where I can find a link to the correct section?

A VP O- is not available for purchase. Separate rings are required. It may be a standard size, but they don't mention it because they want you to purchase the cap.

What thread size does the hose end have?

3/4 npt standard fuel jug.

Will this fit a gas jug made by Jaz Products?

This cap/hose combo has a listing on Amazon that says it fits Jazz, Jegs, and VP, so I'm guessing maybe? The VP 6 gal is what I use. cans.

The price is a little high
5/5

It's a bit pricey for a plastic fuel cap that doesn't even come with the hose. Someone reached over the side of my truck and stole just the cap off the top of a non-VP brand can that looked very similar to the VP cans I had literally just bought and filled up. I wasn't sure if this would fit the non-VP but similar style can, but I couldn't see throwing away a brand new can just because the cap was missing, so I took a chance on it and it worked out perfectly. I debated whether I should spend this much on a cap when I could have just bought a new can with the hose and cap for a few dollars less and not have to throw away my brand new missing cap can. If the can I needed this for had been older and used, I wouldn't have spent more than $6 on a new cap, which would have been a more reasonable price.

Without the 3D Print Mod, it will not fit Sunoco Race Jugs
5/5

I bought four of these to replace Sunoco Race Jug lids that had all failed after only a month of light use. Because of the large $15 price difference between these and the Sunoco lids, I decided to take a chance on these instead of the Sunoco lids. I didn't want any more lids that failed frequently. All of my sunoco lids failed at the hose threads, so these have extra material around them. On Sunoco Race Jugs, they will leak, but they will be protected by a 3D printed TPU seal that works in tandem with the o-ring. These lids have a ring installed in them. These are far superior to Sunoco Race Jug lids if you have access to a 3D printer that can print TPU. Use the search term "VP race jug lid seal" to find my design on Thingiverse.

Not only is it completely pointless, but it's also harmful to your health
3/5

However, it is risky. I just used these for the first time today with some new VP 5 gallon jugs that were supposed to replace an older model by the same manufacturer that I've had for almost ten years and still works fine. The lids on these don't seal at all, and the neck/seal leaks more gasoline than the hose. It appears to me (and has now been confirmed by Amazon and Hoerr) that either the jug threads or the cap threads are defective (or both). br>br>I would advise everyone to stay away from these at all costs because they should not be used for anything, let alone gasoline, as most of us do. br>br>I hope others are more fortunate than I was. br>br>UPDATE: This has been updated. I would also advise against buying from Hoerr Racing Products, as they acknowledged that the jugs and caps were defective but refused to refund my money.

I'm not a VP customer any longer
3/5

Under a different name, VP Racing sells its products. I made a "U-turn" and purchased a "U-turn. " Menards has a "Jug" that is made by VP. It started leaking right away and didn't seal properly. I exchanged it, transferred the costly fuel right in the parking lot, and the new one leaking as well. I ordered this cap because it was identical to the one that came with the "U-Haul" truck. It's still leaking from the "jug. " I contacted the Vice President, whose contact information is on the "U-" card. Before returning the first container, I sent a message to "Jug," and received no response. Thank you, Vice President.

EMPTOR BEWARE! BEWARE OF THE BUYER! This item does not come with an internal O-ring
3/5

seal with a ring If you don't have an O-, you'll need to get one. It's a waste of money to put a ring in the cap because it'll leak like a sieve. You've been given fair warning.

Ethanol resistance is good
4/5

It appears to be standing up to the ethanol-related rigors quite well. tainted gas, as opposed to the VP Racing fuel breather caps, which have lost their nipples to ethanol. My previous race gas cans (think racing supplier that starts with "J" and almost rhymes with "eggs") were not holding up nearly as well as VP gaskets. When I need to keep a gas can under a truck tonneau cover but don't want a filler hose in the way, having a few of these spares on hand comes in handy.

This is an excellent substitute
5/5

I'm enjoying it so far. It appears to be built slightly better than the factory cap, and it does not leak everywhere like the original when I use it to put diesel in the tractor.

They fit exactly like the OEM caps, which is an excellent product
5/5

My old caps had been around for over 20 years and had finally started to crack. I'm hoping for a long time with these.
