Selected User Reviews For Safariland 6000 SLS Hood Guard - Right Hand
My duty holster's hood guard would become insecure every time I bent, got in and out of the vehicle, which was very frustrating. I came across this piece and bid farewell to my unsued hood guard; Safariland should include it with their holster. I am extremely happy.
When dismounting a vehicle, this prevents the SLS hood from being knocked forward, making it more difficult for a takeaway.
It's simple, but it allows me to bend over in my body armor while keeping the hood of my holster in place. It also aids retention in the case of anyone looking or reaching for your weapon from the front. It's a very useful feature of the holster, especially given how inexpensive it is to obtain.
If you're active (DOT, SWAT, K-Team), it can help you keep knocking the hood down. It's more difficult to draw with one hand.
Even when the QLS is removed, the holes do not match up properly. Since I have the retention/friction screw set to none, I wanted to add a little more protection to my level 1.
Installation was simple and took less than 5 minutes when following the instructions.
However, with a little tinkering, it was able to be adjusted to fit perfectly. I used a Safariland 6378 ALS holster to carry this. The holes were slightly off, but I simply cut a small portion of the hole out and it fit perfectly. There are no issues. I'm not sure why the holes were off because it should've fit the 6378 perfectly.
It's simple to set up and use, and it does a fantastic job. This prevents unauthorized access to your Safariland firearm holster's hood.
