Selected User Reviews For Kuryakyn 7509 Motorcycle Foot Control Component: Driver Floorboard Extension Spacers with Bolts for 2009-19 Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, Gloss Black
I was able to do it on the left, but not on the right, because the rear brake peddle was in the way. When I'm in heavy or slow traffic, I also like to place my heel on the front edge of the floorboard. Again, it's possible to do it on the left, but not on the right. It only takes 20 minutes to install with an allen socket and a 9/16 box wrench, and it's completely secure. To get the back bolt on the left side, you'll need a 6 inch extension; you could try with an allen wrench, but good luck. The factory bolts are incredibly secure! There will be two bolts left over, and the two large spacers are different sizes; the larger one goes on the left rear. New lock washers are included, but you will need to replace them. The front two bolts should be secured with factory nuts. You can now toss the included instructions in the trash if you've read this far. The price was reasonable, the shipping was prompt, the installation was simple, and the product solved my problem. Is there anything else you could want?.
The stock floorboard spread on my Harley Ultra Limited has been a source of irritation for me. If I didn't cock my feet at odd angles to get them on, half of my foot was hanging off the side of the floorboards. Despite the fact that they are only 3/4" on each side, they make a significant difference. The included bolts, as well as the spacers, are of excellent quality. Only the nuts for the front floorboard bolt are reused. br>br>My bolts were not particularly dirty or corroded, so they came out fairly easily. If you have lowers, make sure the floorboard is seated above the fairing before starting to drive bolts. Otherwise, you might damage the fairing. Add a smidgeon of blue locktite for good measure. You don't want these to back out while you're driving down the highway! They went on for about ten minutes. br>br> Overly straightforward - There are four bolts with lock washers and four spacers that are clearly marked where they go.
The parts are fantastic. These work perfectly and give me a lot more usable space on the floorboards of my '20 Road Glide, which is exactly how it should be. I used these extensions in conjunction with an extended brake pedal to achieve a fantastic result - My entire boot is comfortable to wear and sit in. It was simple to put together, and there was only one way to do it. Bolting these on with the extended brake pedal took about 45 minutes at a leisurely pace, which necessitated nearly removing the crash bar and working around behind the exhaust rather than removing it. br>br>The price of the Kuryakyn floorboard extender kit is outrageous, so I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars. Overall, I am satisfied with the parts installed and would recommend them to anyone looking for more leg and foot room on the floorboards. br>br>The setup for previous year models provided even more space for half the price. br>br>Overall, I am satisfied with the parts installed and would recommend them to anyone looking for more leg and foot room on the floorboards.
With something so simple, it's difficult to go wrong. Unbolt your floorboards, set aside the original bolts, then thread the new bolts through the spacers and floorboards, tightening to spec. a piece of cake It moves the boards out 3/4" but you'd be surprised how much of a difference it makes. The only difficult part is removing the left side rear bolt; they are torqued down incredibly tight, and there is very little room to get a tool in there with the bike on its kickstand; I had to use a box wrench on an allen wrench as an extended pry bar. It will be easier if you can have someone else hold the bike up for you or if you have access to a stand.
The Kuryakyn spacers are an excellent choice for relocating the floorboards away from the exhaust and primary cover. The shifter is the only disadvantage. br>Without a shifter spacer, the shifter linkage is placed at an angle, which can result in damage, missed shifts, and/or damage to the transmission linkage. br>We've all been in situations where we've had to make quick, unexpected shifts to avoid obstacles, and when they go wrong, it can be disastrous. br>When my shifter broke, I had to replace the shaft, which was quite costly. br>I appreciate you taking the time to read this.
I like it, but it would slam into my shin while riding (I'm just under 5' 9"). These spacers took about 30 minutes to install and perfectly positioned my legs. Advantages: br>br> br> The air cleaner has stopped giving me bruises on my shins! Even for a short guy like me, this is a much more comfortable riding position. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. br> The 3/4" difference places my feet in the ideal position to catch the wind at highway speeds, forcing them outward from the bike, causing a lot of leg fatigue because I'm constantly fighting the wind. However, because this is not a flaw in the product, no stars have been deducted. Lower fairings and highway pegs appear to be on the horizon for me! Overall: br>br> br> For my SGS, this is an absolute must-have mod! Kuryakyn, please accept my heartfelt gratitude.
I installed it on a 2011 Harley Ultra Classic Touring Bike, and it's fantastic. I wish I'd bought it sooner. It was simple to install and provides more space on the floorboards. I did buy a Kuryakyn extended rear brake pad/peddle separately, but it wasn't necessary. I have large feet/boots (size 13/14) and I was always bumping up against the header pipe, feeling cramped with my feet on the floor boards, whether with the stock header pipes or aftermarket pipes. This "kit" is a straightforward, well-made do-it-yourself project. Install something you'll enjoy (I do)! All that's required is a single socket wrench and the appropriate driver for the bolt (same as stock), and I used some blue (medium) Locktite on the threads to ensure nothing vibrates loose since I'm not planning on swapping them out.
This kit will function properly, but one of the included bolts should be longer. Only about 3 turns on the threads on the right side rear bolt engaged. This is not safe in my opinion, so I resolved the issue in this manner. This is a simple fix; simply use the bolt from the left side; however, for the price, the bolts should be the correct length. The parts' finish was good, and they now appear to be sturdy. Although the instructions could be improved, installation was a breeze. Make sure to use lock tight and properly torque those bolts, as you don't want a floorboard to come loose.
