Yes, they will work; I've been using them for over 25 years. Just make sure you don't go any bigger than the jet hole. It's very effective at cleaning out air passages and transitional passageways. I hope this information is useful.

These will be plenty small enough for all the jets and passageways if you're cleaning the carb for a car or a Harley Davidson. However, if you're working on a vintage Japanese bike or a small engine carburetor, you might need something smaller for the smaller passages/jets, such as small gauge wire or a guitar string.

I was rebuilding a set of carbs on a 1981 Virago 750, and I swear there was gas in the bowls from when Jesus rode the bike around the desert. I didn't think I'd be able to make any progress because it was so filthy. The brushes in this set were by far the most helpful; I was able to chase through the emulsion tube and other jets/passages with no damage to the brushes. I did make sure to twirl the brush as I pushed it through to keep the bristles from getting stuck, and the carbs came out spotless in the end. br>br>The 'braided' wires that came with the brushes were too large in general for the small motorcycle carburetor passages, so I didn't use them. The folding case wire set, on the other hand, was extremely useful! All of the wires in the set are solid wires with a little 'ridging' cut into them near the end, which was useful for pushing through clogged passages and clearing out some of the 37-year-old crud. I ended up using these a lot as well, and they're great for chasing down jets, air jets, and other flying objects.
My order was incomplete because the extra brushes and needles were missing.
This is a kit that I use a lot. I bought it to fix a 1987 Virago, but now I use it on my lawn mowers, Harley Davidsons, weed eaters, and anything else that has a carburetor. The tools are small enough to fit even the tiniest Jets into tiny two-stroke carburetors. I even used it to clean a John Deere vent cap that was clogged. br>br>If you work with carbs, just buy it!.
Although it appears to be a cheaply constructed tool, the convenience of the various gauges and brushes makes it ideal for cleaning carburetors. I've been scrounging old wire from electrical scraps, but this is a huge improvement.
Small to medium engines will benefit from this kit. I used it to clean a carburetor from the 1990s that had been sitting outside for nearly two decades. It was a cinch to use. It came with all of the wire sizes I required, as well as brushes to aid in the cleaning of larger channels.
Not only is this a useful tool for carburetors, but it can also be used on oxy-fuel engines. acetylene torches, and any place where a hole or cavity needs to be probed Raised ridges on the wires help loosen deposits by lightly reaming holes. After probing, the brushes are useful for loosening and dislodging debris. br>It's possible to get a second one. One is for the torch box, and the other is for the tool chest.
Can't beat it for the price; it blows the Harbor Freight little kit out of the water. This is about the same price as the Harbor Freight one, but with more options. I especially like the little bristle brushes.
I've used this multi-tool kit to clean several carburetors on small engines. The small metal case broke on me, spilling all of the individual tools all over the place. It was a pain to reorganize, but it did not prevent the tools from working.
