If your owner's manual says to use Dot 4, that's what you should do.
If it says DOT4 on the top of your brake fluid reservoir or in your owner's manual, you can use the synthetic.
It most certainly is! However, make sure the mechanic flushes the system; you'll need three cans, one and a half for flushing and the rest for filling; this is a great idea.
It should be suitable for use. Check the car specs for brake fluid requirements to be 100 sure.

Only the weakest link in this chain can save it. DOT 3 is present in two of the three bottles ordered. The person who placed this order should have had the decency to look at the items they were pulling to fill it. Now I have to put off flushing the brake fluid in my car because a replacement order is unlikely to arrive in one day. The weakest link is to blame for everything! It irritates me that I've grown accustomed to people failing to do their jobs.
It's a good idea to replace brake fluid while the wheels are off and the pads/rotors are being replaced. Caliper that can be compressed. Simply remove the fluid from the reservoir with a "turkey baster. " Fill the container with new liquid. Allow the fluid gravity feed to run clear after opening the bleeder. Make sure the reservoir isn't completely depleted. It doesn't seem to matter which wheel you do first, in my opinion.
A small bottle of name-brand DOT 4 brake fluid. It's ideal for topping off a car with motorcycle brake fluid. I purchased a few bottles in order to flush a car's brakes. Because brake fluid is hydrophilic, it will absorb water from the air once the bottle is opened, so any leftovers will go to waste if I buy the quart size bottle. This size bottle is ideal for me, as it eliminates waste, and I am very pleased with my purchase.
I recently bought a pre-owned, high-end car. low- motorcycle mileage – a 2006 with 2,500 miles on the clock - All of the original fluids are included in the package. The brake and clutch fluid had a maple syrup-like appearance to it. I flushed and refilled all of the slave cylinders with Prestone, and they now run smoothly, quietly, and evenly. Hydraulic fluid should be replaced every couple of years, so any fluid would have been a significant upgrade. I'm confident in the quality and performance of this DOT 4 fluid because it comes from a reputable company.
I put it in both of my motorcycles and cars (Honda Fit and Hyundai Elantra), and I used it to replace the clutch fluid in the Honda because it also requires DOT3/4 brake fluid. br>br>Works perfectly, and the sponginess of the Hyundai's brakes when hot has vanished, as expected. What's more, it was free. What could possibly go wrong with a deal like that?.
One of the most commonly overlooked maintenance items is: Fluid replacement for brakes and clutches In comparison to DOT3, which this product is fully compatible with, full synthetic DOT4 is a great deal. DOT5. 1 is also compatible, but outside of serious racing applications, it would be overkill for most drivers. Even in extreme/aggressive driving conditions, high-quality DOT4 is fine. In general, if your brake fluid resembles a light scotch, you're good to go; if it resembles Coca-Cola, you're in trouble. It's time to replace the cola, and if it resembles espresso, it's bad enough to harm the system.
I would buy a quart of brake fluid and have some left over when flushing the system. Once the fluid is open, I don't want to keep it for any length of time. These smaller bottles allow me to keep fresh fluid on hand at all times.
These are baby bottles, so I should have paid more attention. I'd never seen brake fluid bottles that small before. It would have been better if I had read the description first. The cost is exorbitant; auto parts stores are considerably less expensive.
