Of course, if you have no other option, you can do so; it will not result in a catastrophic failure or internal damage under normal conditions. However, it is strongly advised that at least a DOT 4 be used. It boils at a higher temperature of 30 to 50 degrees. Unless you're in a prolonged, heavy breaking situation, such as riding the brakes down a long, steep grade, Toyota's braking system is very efficient and may never reach those high temperatures. Then you'll be wishing you had chosen a higher-grade fluid. It all depends on how fortunate you are.
No matter what the label says, almost all brake fluid is synthetic. Yes, you can mix and match them. Just keep DOT5 out of it.
Check your owner's manual or call Polaris to make sure you have the correct dot 3 or dot 4 (it makes a difference).
It's exactly what you'd need, but if you're unsure, you can always call an auto store and ask before ordering from Amazon.

When the hood of my 1990 Chevy truck is up, I always check the brake fluid level, and that's about all the attention it's gotten. I recently replaced all four wheels' drums, rotors, and pads, but the stopping performance did not improve significantly. The fluid in the reservoir looked like diarrhea when I finally popped the cap. I bought it in 1998 and have done a lot of maintenance on it, including installing a new engine last summer, but I'm ashamed to say that I've neglected to check the brake fluid. I bought a Lisle 19200 Brake Bleeding Kit as well as a few quarts of synthetic Dot-X brake fluid. 3 brake fluid (enough for my 1999 Expedition) and began bleeding one wheel at a time until only clear fluid was visible. Because those 17-year-olds were only in school during the day, it was only a day job. Fittings that were over a year old needed to be coaxed and replaced. I needed a backup quart, so I went to an auto parts store and bought one for $5. I didn't make that 40-dollar bill, but I did make that 40-dollar bill. While you could drive the extra mile for other things, the convenience of ordering here while your vehicle is disabled and waiting for a part. . . or more fluid, is hard to beat.
Contains a lot of water. In August, I placed an order for six bottles. 2021 Today is September 15th. I'm all set to flush my brake fluid in 2021. Fortunately, I checked the moisture content of this new fluid prior to using it. It explained by an excess of 4% moisture content (see photo). This is completely unacceptable. I tested my moisture meter with another brake fluid I had on hand and it showed 0%. br>Since the return window closed in September, I'm screwed. 2021 I'm still requesting a refund of my funds. This seller sells contaminated fluid that should not be used!.
There were no leaks or damage. This was purchased for my 2013 Honda Accord, and the service manual recommends using Honda brake fluid, which is a croc (3x more expensive). Everyone understands that brake fluid is just that: brake fluid. DOT rated requirements must be followed by all manufacturers. Prestone has never caused any issues for myself or anyone I know. It is low-cost and effective. The packaging is excellent. There were no leaks or damage.
It was a great time throughout the entire process. It's great to get rid of the old, dark brake oil and replace it with something lighter. After the oil change, the brakes feel much more responsive. br>br>In case anyone is interested, a complete flush for this vehicle took about 36 oz of brake fluid, and I believe this is true for most other vehicles as well. Please double-check with a quick Google search.
Wow, the price was ten bucks less than any of my local auto parts stores, less than three dollars for prestone brake fluid can't go wrong, and if you're bleeding out old nasty fluid, you'll need at least a couple bottles of this. I am pleased with my purchase.
I'm not sure if the break fluid broke the seal or if it was a returned item, but this item was not sealed when I received it. This irritates me because break fluid should be applied as soon as possible. Who knows how long this break fluid was out in the open.
This is DOT 3, and for those of you who are curious, ***all dot 3 brake fluid is synthetic***, so yes, it will work with what you have. I have used mine in both a newer truck and a classic car. Prestone is my favorite because it lasts longer when I use it. Other brands I've used have caused components to fail more quickly, so whatever these guys are making, they're doing it right.
Our '96 Camry was in desperate need of a brake fluid change after who knows how many years of use. We did it ourselves rather than paying the exorbitant prices at a dealership. It was fairly simple to do, and someone with only rudimentary mechanical skills and a few tools could probably complete it with the help of a YouTube tutorial. The brakes didn't feel any better, but at least we're not going to die. br>br>While the Camry only needed two bottles to flush out the old fluid, having three on hand would have been ideal.
