Questions & Answers

Would this be suitable for use as a firearm lubricant?

Don't pay attention to John and Jeff's advice. br>Berryhill Customs used to sell a product called "Ultimate Gun Lube" that was nearly identical to this. People who believe that "gun" oils can only be used on firearms do not have critical thinking skills.

Is it possible to use this on a ball that has a manual shifter?

For that application, it's a little too sticky. It's mostly used when the temperature is higher. A white grease would be more appealing to me.

Is this something that could be used for ball bearings in bicycle hubs?

Without a doubt. Push out any old grease as you work the grease into the bearings.

Not suitable for use in hot weather
3/5

I figured that because Timken makes the best bearings, this would be a perfect match. br>br>I run light-duty cargo trailers (motorcycles) at high speeds in hot weather, so high-temperature grease is a must. When I opened the tub, it appeared to be far too thin. I used a heat gun on it, as well as Lucas and Bel Ray high-temperature grease. A temperature gun was also employed. The Timken grease begins to melt at 350 degrees. The Lucas Films Bel Ray will hold up to 500 people or more, as stated. This Timken is not a good high temperature bearing grease in my opinion. It's not something I'm going to use.

So far, everything has gone according to plan
5/5

The color red is bright and the texture is slick. It's all very interesting. It appears to be thin, but it is extremely smooth, and the bearing performs admirably with it. br>br>I'll probably update this review if my bearings fail too soon. Because the bearings from the same manufacturer were so good, I'll give this a high rating for the time being because Timken would never want to tarnish their brand or product with bad grease! br>br>Recent changes: br>br> After 29,000 miles, there have been no issues; I'll provide an update when the inspection repack is due in a month or two. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> Timken bearings, 40,000 miles after first bearing replacement with this grease Bearings are still in excellent condition in terms of appearance, feel, and function. I'll keep you updated on the repack or if there are any grease-related issues, but so far everything has gone smoothly. br>br>Update, 2020br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>When I popped the grease caps and peered inside during a tire change, everything was After that, I stopped tracking things and put another 30,000 on the bearings. These days, there are a lot of shorter trips and a lot more sitting. Despite the fact that the old Ford has 245,000 miles on it, I still prefer driving it to my much newer 4Runner. Anyway, I really need to repack those bearings, but they still roll perfectly smooth and quietly, with no play when the car is jacked up to switch tires from winter to summer and back. COVID put a serious halt to my travels this year, so I left the winters on from the previous year. Until the virus is eradicated, I doubt I'll be driving nearly as much. br>br>The majority of my miles have been on freeways and highways between Los Angeles and the Pacific Northwest, through rain, snow, cold, heat, curves, towing, and being loaded down in an 8-foot truck. I went to bed with both tanks full, then went around town collecting garden supplies. Is it the grease or the bearings and seals that are causing the problem? br>br>Is it the grease or the bearings and seals that are causing the problem? Who knows, but they all appear to be functioning properly. When I finally get around to repacking the bearings next spring, I'll post an update. I apologize for not being able to provide the tear-jerking presentation. yet to receive a down update It will be interesting to see how the clean and repack goes. br>br>To tell you the truth, I was considering purchasing a new truck. I drove all of them, and I must say that the RAM hemi 4x4 was my favorite. However, concerns about reliability, parts shortages, and a shorter bed, among other things, caused me to reconsider. I'm not up for a beer can with a twin turbo rubber band motor, a giant television in the dashboard, and a tiny bed that's smaller than a 1970s Eldo trunk, according to the people who built my truck. Then there was the Toyota, which had excessive road noise, and none of them are as good as my 1995 Ford with the crew cab and eight-foot bed. They also don't have a flat-folding back area. And, gee, 50 grand for a truck that doesn't go to work, and 70 grand for a truck that could go to work but no one wants to scratch a 70 grand truck? Hmmm. br>br>It's just that one day, somewhere, some piece of plastic or a resistor will be the end. br>br>She'll be pleased when I repack her bearings and perform another round of maintenance on her. That vintage truck is fantastic. br>br>The Timkin grease is unquestionably excellent. It appeals to me because it allows me to keep my well-paid, enjoyable-to-drive, useful, and friendly old truck on the road for a little longer.

This is a fantastic product that solves a real problem
5/5

This is the genuine article when it comes to wheel bearings. If you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, this is the place to be. DO NOT use chassis grease with a packer with a zerk fitting. (as do the rest of us. ) I can't tell you how many times I've seen trailers with those "bearin-" words in them. Homeowners fill them with chassis grease, which causes them to fail. This grease was used to grease the bearings of a motorcycle trailer that was hauling two massive hogs. Not a drop of this High Temp grease made it past the seals when I pulled the thing at 90+ mph. br>br>I've never seen genuine wheel bearing grease sold in a cartridge, but I now have a grease gun dedicated to the task.

Good lubricant
5/5

I wish this stuff was available in my area. I used to use Kendall's super blue, but I can't seem to find it anymore, so I figured I'd give this a shot since I use and/or replace Timken bearings the majority of the time. So far, everything I've lubed up has proven to be effective. However, as we all know, how it performs in say 80 thousand miles is impossible to predict. However, if it is branded by the bearing company, it should be suitable for all purposes.

Grease is the culprit
5/5

It's grease, after all. Took a decent amount of time to fill my bearing packing device, and it works well with a variety of bearings. It's what I use for trailers and trucks.

Timken racing grease is a high-quality bearing grease that is well worth the extra money
5/5

With a zerk fitting, the cartridge can be used in a grease gun or bearing packer. This grease is purple in color and performs better than the standard Timken red grease. It costs a little more than regular grease, but it's well worth it. Ball joints, tie rods, u joints, and other grease-using components benefit greatly from this product.

Bearing grease of the highest quality
5/5

Bearing grease of the highest quality. It's red and cheesy. Lucas heavy duty grease pales in comparison to this product. The Lucas had a lot of liquid in it.

This purchase is a little light on volume
3/5

This is the third time I've bought this grease to pack wheel bearings. The bottom of the can this time had a large air pocket. Even though it was adequate for the job, I was short on volume. I'll buy from them again, but I'd like to make a suggestion to their quality assurance department.
