ISO 100 (as described in the description) is in the 30 W range for automobiles. ISO 68 should be in the 20W range for automotive oil. The SAE (automotive) crankcase oil grades can vary greatly within the number (30, for example), whereas the ISO grade number has a narrower range of options and is used on more expensive machinery. It's also a good idea to have a block heater. Magnetic block heaters are what you'll find on ebay. They have a power rating of 150 watts or higher and can operate in temperatures as low as 35 degrees Fahrenheit. Unless you can insulate the crankcase with some insulation. On the other hand, if you don't switch back to 100 ISO oil for the summer, your compressor will be subjected to unnecessary wear.

Selected User Reviews For Mobil 101016 Rarus 427 Compressor Oil, 1 Gallon
All of our compressors in the field and in the shop are Rarus. When in service, our field units run almost continuously, even in the heat and humidity of the South, as well as the cold dampness of the South during the winter months. They run in the heat of the day or in the pouring rain. Mud, dirt, fine dust, and debris are all common occurrences. Before switching to Rarus, we were using other brands and having to rebuild our compressors three times as often. When using Rarus, the compressors run ten degrees cooler on average and have significantly fewer deposits on the pistons when rebuilt. We use a lot less oil, which results in cleaner air and less oil waste. The compressor oil will typically run for 90 days near constantly before being serviced and our breakdowns have been cut by over 85% while using Rarus. This oil is, without a doubt, magical. Uplift filters and unit maintenance are essential, but Rarus will pay for itself in no time.
In the shop, I used this motor oil on two of my compressors. Both of them became slightly quieter as a result of this. They're also a little less hot. I used a thermometer on both of them and they're both running at least 5-degrees. Cooler by ten degrees. As a result, I can deduce that the other oil was either used up or that this oil is far superior at doing its job. I'm very happy.
I finally used this to get my compressor's first oil change. When I re-started it, I could definitely tell the difference. I only have a half-hour to work on it. However, it appears to be appealing. I'll update the review if any issues arise in the future. Fisher 7 is the name of the card. 80 gallon capacity, 5 HP. This compressor is a beast. duty cycle 100 % The gallon is just right for two changes, with a smidgeon left over in case I need to top it off at any point.
To make my purchases, I rely on science, previous experience, and reviews. Mobile oils are notoriously difficult to go wrong with, and this compressor oil is no exception. This will be the place where we get more oil for our compressors when the time comes.
It works well in my air compressor, which I purchased new from Home Depot in 2013. I also installed an hour meter to ensure accuracy when I need to replace it.
If you don't want a flat, leaky package of garbage, don't buy it. You can return it for a refund, but how? I can't tell if the oil is good because it's flattened and covered in it.
When I put it in my air compressor, it runs much more quietly. This is something I'm going to use from now on.
