Hello, and thank you for your thoughtful inquiry. When placed beneath the Peat Pods you're starting seedlings in, the MAT141 universal polypropylene mat will absorb any excess water. Because there is no poly backing on this mat, the surface beneath it may be wet as well. Our MAT285 Polymer MAT285 Polymer MAT285 Polymer Polymer Pads for Back Absorbent Mats (15). 5"W x 20"L) will absorb water as well, but will not allow any of it to soak through. We also have it in a larger roll, MAT283 (31"W x 75'L), which can be cut to size with scissors. The MAT141 will work for your application, or you can go with the poly-coated version. To ensure that your surface stays dry, use the backed version. Please let us know if there's anything else we can help you with!
Hi Jill! That is an excellent question. I'd be delighted to assist you. The Absorbent Mat Roll is made of polypropylene, which melts at around 180 degrees Fahrenheit. For this reason, we do not recommend using these mats in applications where they may be exposed to temperatures near or exceeding 180°F. I hope this information is useful! Please contact us if you have any additional questions.
Hi Tina. The thickness of the mat differs slightly. Depending on where on the master roll it is cut, it can be anywhere between 1/16" and 1/8". Mats from the center of the roll are more compressed, while those from the edges are less compressed. The absorbency, on the other hand, will be the same.
Hi JD! The MAT141 Universal Absorbent Mat will help to keep your basement dry. As long as you're only absorbing water, they can be wrung out, dried, and reused a couple of times. Oils, solvents, and coolants can all be absorbed by the MAT141. If you have a lot of water, using a sump pump to remove the majority of it and then using the MAT141 to remove the rest is the best option. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do.

I had water in the basement due to a broken downspout during the winter and wasn't able to repair or replace it until spring. I was soaking up water with towels, which I had to replace, wash, and dry every two days. 3 times a day is a good rule of thumb to follow. I only had to replace the batteries once a day with this product. After allowing them to dry, I re-painted them. use them. The box's and perforated roll's convenience are incredible.
I keep a box in the shop at all times because there is always an "Oh sh!" moment. It's that time of year when you have to clean up oil, coolant, blood, and sperm. whatever! It gets the job done and takes it all in stride!.
After two years of use, I've written a review. br>The box is still on the move. br>I'm finding that I'm using this role less, despite the fact that it's fantastic in so many ways. I've used it as a wrap (Matt soaks in my favorite Anti-Bacterial) and for its intended purpose. Rust oil) for tools and other items that spend a lot of time on the truck. Oils and grease on the hands are easily removed with this rag. br>If it hadn't been for this role, I would have used a lot more paper towels by now. br>It does a fantastic job and pays for itself!.
Ours has a coating on the bottom that prevents liquid from passing through. I bought to run around my car while doing a Rinseless wash to keep the garage floor dry.
I knew I'd have trans oil all over because I had to rebuild a transmission pump, so I grabbed a box. I use one of these sheets to clean up a spill that would have taken half a roll of blue shop paper towels to clean up.
When you wipe a surface with them, however, they begin to fall apart, leaving bits of rag on whatever you're wiping. It's great for absorbing oil, but it's not a substitute for shop rags.
Buying these in bulk rather than in rolls saves money. If spider web-like material is an issue, these do not "shed" as well as others. For the most part, absorbency is excellent. Make a difference in the world!.
I am confident that the product will perform admirably. They're something I'm familiar with. It's the packaging that's the problem. The roll of pads is kept in the box, which also serves as a dispenser. It looks like it was kicked around in a warehouse before being placed in another box to be shipped. It's pointless to have a dispenser box.
