As well as using it to raise a small work surface to a comfortable working height and transfer heavy items to a work bench, I also bought this for lifting a motorcycle. Having a back that is in need of something like this is becoming a necessity with age. The description of this item did not mention the lowered height dimension when I ordered it. There was, however, an answer posted in the section for customer questions and answers. There it states that it is 12 inches and 13 3/8 inches. In that case, you may or may not find this useful if there is more than one version or if the differences are that great. This could be clarified and added to the description by the seller. In my opinion, this lift was flawed by the jack cradle being so low to the ground (only 3/32" clearance) that it would easily catch on the slightest irregularity in the floor surface or simply catch and lift the car. Yet, I was amazed at how robust the scissors were. This device was pretty solid, even when it was raised.

I have no problem storing my planer under the wing of a table saw when lowered. It is easy to use - just wheel it out, jack it up with the foot pedal, and set the roller stand on the outfeed side.
