So, because there isn't a lot of information on these, I felt compelled to assist them. TLDR: TLDR: TLDR: TLDR: TLDR: TLDR: TLDR: TLDR Solid product, will recommend to others; I'll review it again when I return in mid-August after a 1100 mile ride. br>br>REASON: After one of the stock aluminum bolts broke, I decided to buy these. I noticed the backing plate was cracked and bent after removing the stock bolt, which I had not noticed before removing the original plate. I've put about 16k miles on my bike and regularly carry a case of beer in both bags when I return from the store. So, while my stress level may be higher than yours, that is my story. br>br>So we're talking about a 5-minute installation. Bring a pair of needle nose in 10 minutes. With a pull, remove the old clip and insert the new one. The new clips are fine, but I think a little more bulk would have been beneficial; the bolts, on the other hand, are sturdy and heavy. The feel and weight of these items will take your breath away. I'm blown away. The bolt is backed with a star pattern to help you feel how tight it is when you apply pressure. My bags are much tighter and more secure than the originals, but that was the intention. In August, go on a trip to see 1100-year-old structures. If there are any issues while traveling 1500 miles in three days, I will update the review.
I purchased these a few months ago after riding alongside a friend who had a saddle bag fall off his Road Glide while speeding down the highway at 70 mph. I came dangerously close to running over his strewn-about bag, which would have been the end of my day. br>On my 14 Ultra Limited, installing these saddle bag bolts took less than 10 minutes. I've double-checked them several times over the course of this summer's riding and can say without a doubt that these things don't loosen up in the least. I'd strongly advise you to use them. The solid one-piece design is also appealing.
I rode to Sturgis this year after installing the RICKRAK Harley Davidson Saddle Bag Safety Bolt KIT, which is a solid kit that is well worth the money.
I had a problem with one of my bolts and had to replace it. I contacted the company, and the owner personally spoke with me and assisted me in obtaining a replacement bolt, which was excellent customer service. I enjoy supporting small businesses, especially when they provide such excellent customer service.
One of my bags was lost on the highway as a result of this. These Rickrak are authentic. They're all made of metal, and based on how beefy and durable they appear, I'm confident they'll be secure.
One thing to keep in mind is that the klick lock will not work if you use the Harley saddlebag organizers that attach to the inside of the bag and are secured with saddlebag pins. The locking washer will not make contact with the rubber grommet, allowing it to spin as you tighten the pin, resulting in the locks never engaging or at least not being audible. To see if it works, I'll put a thin rubber washer between the rickrak washer and the organizer. It's great even without the organizers!.
This is fantastic. On my 06 Streetglide with extended bags, it was a breeze to install. They feel like they're locked in place and won't budge. Definitely worth the money and the peace of mind it provides. If you're worried about stock clips causing you to lose your bags, get these bad boys!.
They are a very high quality part with excellent machining and a low profile so they don't catch things going in and out of the saddle bags. They also make it easier to remove and install the saddle bag, which is required on the right side to check air shock pressure and tire pressure. Anyone looking to replace their quarter turn Harley fasteners should consider these. There are some that are less expensive, but you get what you pay for.
