The kit also includes a chart. I purchased 8-foot-long 2x8s and cut them down to 6 1/2-foot lengths to fit easily in my truck bed. Keep in mind that the steeper the ramp is, the shorter the board is.
They were a perfect fit for the 2 by 8's I purchased at Home Depot.
It doesn't fit into the ramp kit; instead, it bumps into it.
My riding lawnmower experience is all I have. However, I am certain that my ramps (8-foot) are in good shape. Significantly more weight could be carried by a 2X8 foot.

The item was delivered on time, and I was pleased with the quality and price. I should have chosen the unit with end plates, which sit on the ground and do not damage the 2x6. But I didn't because this unit was a little less expensive and I can make my own end ground support plates. The upper ends are excellent, thick, heavy-duty molded ramp ends that will last and can be used repeatedly. It came with non-slip pads, hardware, and aluminum ramp plates for the upper board, and it was well worth the small price paid. I immediately went out and bought the wood for the ramps, put it together (15 minute job), and have used the ramps several times to load a motorcycle and scooter to haul across town. Why buy 100 ramps when you can make your own for a fraction of the price?br>I'm very happy with my purchase and the price.
The ramp kit includes step-by-step instructions to ensure that your lumber is cut to the correct length. Once put together, it serves as a sturdy equipment ramp. To make a smoother ramp, I cut a 30 degree bevel into the opposite end of my lumber.
I used a larger bit to drill out about 1/8 inch, then tapped them in with a rubber mallet. Also, one of my nuts was too small for the bolt, but luckily I had one in the junk drawer that would work. Not directly related to the product, but try to purchase your two pieces of lumber so that they are the same weight. I have one that is still damp and stiff (which is good) and another that is dry and flexes more. As a result, one side of the dolly may become more depressed, increasing the risk of it tipping and falling.
I agree with some of the other reviewers that the slot in which the bracket fits is too small. As shown in their instructions, I had to chip away a narrow groove in order for the bracket to fit. Aside from that, the brackets are excellent. The lip on the underside of the bracket that fits into the 2 x 8 I used, which I purchased from Home Depot, needed a small adjustment, so I chipped a small piece from the end of the boards and it fit perfectly.
We can push the lawn mower up because it's easy to attach to wood and fits well.
It's the most effective setup I've seen among Amazon's options.
It was exactly what I needed to complete my ramp construction.
