You can upgrade your 7/8" bars to 1 1/8" bars with this great product. It's the people. There are these. There is. An adapter. In fact, these clamps will not fit any bar size that you happen to have instead, these top clamps can adapt to any set of bars that have a 7/8" bar mount built in. The "universal" part refers to the fact that it does not matter which motorcycle you are running, these mounts can be used with any motorcycle with a top triple clamp. This isn't for those of you who are looking for risers. The reason it is so popular is that it will give you just a little rise when upgrading from 7/8 to 1 1/8 bars. If you have a DR650, you can perform this procedure, unless you are one of the people who wants to do this with a DR650. Once these bolts are installed on the existing bar mounts, the adapter will require the stock bolts since the bolts that come with this are The problem is that a 2007 CRF 150RB won't work with that. In order for the bolts to fit in the bar mount, you will have to hacksaw them.
The quality of these is good. The roses are well made, attractive, and have fewer points of failure than two inch risers. Switching from the two" risers was a disappointment, but everything works out better. There's nothing I need to do to get used to them, just get used to them.
Had to use the top of the top mount as a spacer/raiser in order to remove the old bracket. It took me a while to figure out how to get the bolts to not bottom out before they get tight on the taper mount and the original mount, but once I did that install was an easy process.
The diameter of Pro Taper bars is larger than the stock mounts. They don't tell you this when they negotiate a price on the bars. It is the same mounts that come with the kit, which is more expensive. You will need to buy the bars separately, then purchase these mounts and you're all set.
My Honda CRF250L has a front tire that is 5 inches wide. These are replacing a pair from AliExpress that I used to have. The total is the 4th set - the first two are tall, the third is round, and the fourth is the same. A great deal better quality leads to a better outcome. This is everything Protaper is loved for - fit, finish, and material.
The fit is excellent and the looks are great. My Drz400 is now running the updated firmware. The fat bars are 1 1/8th thick instead of 7/8th thick. While doing so, he gained a bit of height. The fit is tight and they look good.
A previous cut was made to the package. The Allen bolts on two of the bolts refused to take a wrench because the casting was poor. The bolts had to be changed in order for it to.
