Our tour of the US was based on the Butler G1 maps of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana. We are riding our adventure bikes to the Northwest. We had a great time. We saw a lot of interesting paved roads that we would have missed with a In terms of road ratings, they were spot on Keeping up to date and on point. They have a color coding that can be difficult to interpret, as the "Gold" road highlight looks the same as the "Bronze" road highlight. Though the cost of the map appeared steep, it made our trip more enjoyable - we didn't have to guess about which roads to choose, and it was obvious that thorough research went into the Maps themselves were made of a high quality plasticized paper that folded well and could be refolded. No testing of their water resistance was conducted, but they seem to deal well with.
Both this and the WABDR's were helpful for a three day trip that took me from Vancouver, Canada south until I got to Highway 2 east again in Cashmere, where I picked up the BDR to Chelan for the next day. In the end, I was able to hop on highway 20 and travel all the way back to Bellingham and The map is an excellent way to get a general idea about a journey before getting into the details of GPS coordinates and timetables.
Despite the nice look, the map does not appear to be complete. I can't see the roads or areas on the ground that look good for traveling, everything is too far away. It needs to be closer so I can see them. Although the road on the back of the map is supposed to be closed up, it isn't of much help. In Indiana you have to search for your own riding, and Washington State has just not a lot of it.
I like the look of the map, but it is not very useful for motorcyclists since only the names of the major highways are shown here, not the minor roads or As you can see, there are roads that are good for motorcycles, but they are not good for navigating.
A Butler is always the best when it comes to planning a trip!.
