Even after I've stopped riding, I leave mine plugged into my Honda Goldwing and it hasn't drained my battery. Keep in mind, though, that I have a habit of locking up my bike overnight and leaving it unplugged so that I can trickle-charge it. the battery needs to be charged br>br>However, it should be noted that I've left it in overnight a few times instead of charging my battery, and it has never drained the battery, even when I left it in for several days in a row. It doesn't give separate readings for how much voltage is used by auxiliary lights (or other accessories), but the voltage drop will be visible if the motor isn't running. This will give you an idea of the amount of voltage being used. Depending on how many accessories are turned on while the motor is running, you may notice a slight drop in voltage, but this is dependent on the power of your alternator. br>br>I have a computer that I use on a regular basis. Even when everything is turned on at the same time and I'm just idling, I don't notice any significant drops in voltage thanks to the Fire High Amp alternator. All of my lights (including high beam), my iPhone, my Tom Tom (gps), and charging my iPad can be found on the bike or via my iPod. But it doesn't matter because the bike is already moving. br>br>The bottom line is that you shouldn't worry about leaving it plugged in all the time unless you're going to be away from your motorcycle for an extended period of time, in which case you should unplug it.
It would, in my opinion. This is what I used to mount it on my motorcycle. I have no problems using a Garmin Nuvi and charging my iPhone.
Your point about the switch is well taken. On this one, I don't think there's a switch. Unless your SAE feed is switched on and off by the key, I'm guessing you'll have to unplug this overnight. A switch is included in one of the other adaptors I purchased. This summer, I purchased several USB adaptors but have yet to use any of them. Previously, I had been using a SAE to cigarette lighter adaptor, which worked fine. These were purchased solely for the purpose of saving space on my upcoming trip.
No, the unit's cord will unplug. br>br>To keep dust and water out, a two-prong plastic seal plug is attached and plugged into the unit. In the larger image, that's the part that you can see at the very front. It's a cool gadget with a nice blue digital display.

It's the ideal complement to my 2015 Road King. It plugs directly into the electrical junction block under my bike's side panel, and the length of wire was ideal for running under my tank console and ziptying down around the gooseneck. In wet conditions, I've left the cable plugged in, and it still works. I used to be concerned about being stranded with a dead phone, but that is no longer the case. This is a game changer. The two USB ports are also useful for allowing others to charge their phones. Alternatively, you can use it to connect to another device. Joe from the city of St. Louis.
For my Nuvi 2597, I needed a USB connector. This product is reasonably priced and comes with two ports. When I'm riding, I plug in my battery tender cable, which is conveniently located under my speedo. It displays the voltage of your battery, but I've never paid attention to it. I put this right next to my ignition key, so whenever I put the key in the ignition, I plug it in, and when I turn it off, I unplug it. I also keep a long iPhone charger cable in case I need to charge the phone. I haven't used it to charge my phone yet. I would have given this product five stars if there was a place to secure it with a zip tie. On my bike, I simply wedge the unit between the speedo and the ignition switch, and it works perfectly.
This device needed to be connected to the battery directly. After cutting the connector and wiring it up, I found out (too late) that Red wire is -. Black is Positive and Negative/Ground: (At this time, the USB Adapter with Voltmeter does not work. ).
Given its price, this USB charger is adequate, but I seriously doubt it can provide the full 2. 4A on both ports, and I didn't even get that out of one, according to my calculations. 6A. The accubattery reveals 1. With the phone on and the app running, the charging current is 2A. This does not include the power that the phone is currently using, which is around 350mA when idle and the screen is on. To test this, I used a variety of cables (not the one shown). Despite the fact that it fell short, it is still sufficient to charge while using maps and music, so I am not concerned. br>br>They only give you two zip ties in the package, which is a bit of a joke because I used about seven and that was being conservative. I'm not sure what they expect you to do with those two; perhaps you're supposed to weave it through an existing loom or wrap it around the frame. Some may not think this is a big deal because you probably already have a lot of zip ties (like I did), but it's the cheapest part in the kit. I don't believe it will break them to add six more zip ties to allow people to properly manage their wiring. br>br>It would be nice if the plug were recessed into the box a little to shorten the overall length of the box with the wire attached. This made it a little more bulky than it needed to be, but that wasn't a problem for me. It's unattractive, but it serves a purpose. The reading of the voltage appears to be correct.
If you are, on the other hand. It does exactly as it says on the tin. This is not, however, the product for you if you want to be constantly connected. There is no standby or sleep mode on this device. The battery may be depleted as a result of this action.
Finally, a working chrager, and I like that the volts can be seen.
I discovered a 12v power source in the headlight bucket and connected it to my bars with a cable. It charges my phone faster than my truck's car charger, and it comes with a voltage meter so you can keep track of current battery levels and whether your bike is charging the battery properly.
This charger is ideal for charging two phones at the same time. It works great, but you'll need saddle bags or somewhere to charge your phone while riding because you won't be able to use it while the bike is parked and not running. Your battery will be depleted as a result of your actions. But I adore it, and it serves my purposes perfectly! It also tells you how much voltage is left in your battery, which is a nice bonus.
