Mine was wired in direct.
For my trailer, I ran a ground and a hot wire to each light, as well as grounding at each light. It's a bit excessive, but it'll pay off in the long run. Only the hot wire to the light is required because the light comes with a ground wire with a ring connection. The connection is made with waterproof wire nuts, and there is enough room to tuck the light inside. The wires were then run through the tube and into the trailer fender. A rubber grommet was inserted into a small hole drilled in the top of the fender. I ran wire down the inside of the fender, which was well secured to the fender wall, then under the frame and up to the wire harness. Take the time to wrap all wires with electrical tape after covering them with a wire protector. The lighting is fantastic. They're a lot bigger than I expected.
Yes, they are still functional on my trailer because they are sealed. My trailer has been backed into the water once and is still operational.
LEDs are known to be water resistant, so I'm sure they'd work fine on a boat trailer. The plastic housing is inexpensive and does not require any mounting screws. What you pay for is exactly what you get.

I have an ARISING Industries trailer with moisture-damaged fender lights. The dealership replaced the correct one twice, only for the problem to occur once more. When I realized the left one was having the same issue, I decided to stop buying them from the dealership. These were ordered, the color was changed, and the problem was solved (they survived Hurricane IRMA and are still dry). They also have a fantastic appearance. They come highly recommended.
I saw pictures of these being installed on a teeny-tiny single-family house. I figured they'd fit on a 15" dual axle trailer with wide fenders just fine. Not so: These things are HUGE. Just to get them to fit on the fenders, I had to shorten the wire-extension. br>br>These are made of basic ABS, and there are huge gaps all around the light fixtures for water to get in, but no limber hole for water to get out. This is a horribly designed product. The bulbs themselves are well-sealed and held in place by selastic. There are no reservations on my part. The housing is also quite sturdy. br>br>The wiring is adequate, with a cheap ABS bullet connector for the hot and a ring terminal for the ground. The crimping is decent. Another strong feature of the design is the wire gauge, which is heavier than it needs to be for this application. br>br>These are fine for my needs, but I would not put them on a steel trailer that will be left outside in the rain at any cost or in any circumstance. If you live in an area where rust is a problem, you should take the following precautions: In no time, you'll have rotted your fenders.
Wiring was well-done, with pigtail lengths and wire gauges not skimped on. What bothered me was the use of sheetrock screws to secure the light lenses to the black plastic housings. AND, with one of the two lights purchased, the lenses were not centered or level with the housing, necessitating the removal of sheetrock screws, realigning the lenses, and then re-installing them. putting screws in the housing I also wish the product came with fasteners. $6 was added to the total. Fasteners to attach the trailer's fenders cost $24 (tax) at Lowe's. Overall, a good product that could be much better if some attention to detail was paid to it.
My Interstate trailer's fender lights are nearly identical to these. The replacement screws that came with the lights were smaller in diameter, so I had to re-use the original screws. Because there is a significant gap between the lights and the mounting, I see the possibility of dirt and road grime becoming trapped.
My trailer received a great upgrade thanks to this product. After losing a fender due to a tire blowout, I replaced both fenders and upgraded to LED lighting. These lights appeal to me a lot - It's easier to find the location of the fender at night, and the trailer's visibility while towing is improved.
I really like the lighting and how it looks. There are no issues that I have. I made a video to show you the difference between the previous lights. You cannot go wrong, in my opinion. Buy them.
My trailer fenders were installed yesterday, and even the screw holes matched the existing holes. The included screws were far too small for the fender holes, so I used the ones I already had. The lighting is fantastic - I wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.
Excellent fender marker lights. Electric connections are extremely simple. The screw holes were a perfect match for the old, failing lights. The new LED lights are a LOT brighter than the old ones. The lights are turned on.
