Yes, you can re-use this sealant. If any parts of the channel are lost or removed while reopening the headlight, you may need to fill them in. The sealant, on the other hand, can be softened repeatedly with heat. Every time, a temperature of 265°F for 7 minutes works.
No, it's not meant to be used as an adhesive; instead, it's meant to be used as a sealant. If the sealant was the only thing holding the headlight in place on the first warm day, it would soften to the point where it would fall off.

This was used to reseal the headlights of a 2015 Subaru WRX. Two pairs of headlights (4 total) could be made from one pack. I've had no condensation issues despite the fact that it's been raining for a few months. I would strongly suggest it. When trying to get it into the channels on your housing, heat it to 200 degrees to make it easier to work with. Reheat for another 3 minutes. 5 minutes, then push it flush and evenly into the channel with a flathead or screendoor roller. I'll add that reheating this stuff to redo a retrofit or dismantling your housing for whatever reason makes it extremely stringy, more so than most oem butyls, so be careful not to get any of it on the lens or any of your headlight internals or you'll have a small disaster cleaning it off! Aside from that, it's fantastic, and one roll has lasted me two retrofits with full-sized headlights (Genesis Coupe) and two fog lights (also Genesis Coupe), with plenty left over!.
It's easy to put on, cuts easily, and comes with a lot more than I needed for my four-door Jeep Grand Cherokee. If I need more, I will purchase it again. It is less expensive than name-brand products and performs equally well. There's no odor, but it's just as sticky, and the packaging is nice and tidy. It had the desired effect. Black was purchased to match the painted black interiors in case any were visible. It appears to be in good condition. It's fairly simple to work with; just avoid sticking it to anything you don't want it to stick to. It cools quickly to an unusable temperature, perhaps 2 minutes. Depending on the size and thickness of the beads, you may need to wait 3 minutes between bakes. I've never worked with rubber butyl before, so who knows if they're all the same. This one seemed to work well for me. After a couple of weeks of rain, there hasn't been any condensation.
The rubber was gently heated and softened using a hair dryer, which worked perfectly. Stretch this into a small bead at the lens's edge, then heat and compress the lens to the housing until the clips are secure. Also, I like the packaging.
Don't put your life in jeopardy. I bought some Bi-Polar. Retrofitting my 4Runner with LED projector bulbs. I had to scrape out all of the old butyl and purchase new butyl. It's a good thing this brand came up first. I knew I was getting the best materials to re-create because Morimoto is one of the industry's leaders. My headlamps must be shut off. I'm glad I went with black instead of grey because it matches the black seal on the corner marker.
I previously attempted to seal them with silicone, but it failed after two months. I've been using it for 6 months and have had no problems. It's just a matter of heating up the roll, lining the groove, and sealing it.
Although this product is simple to use, I still noticed some gaps in the housing after using it to close them. Just in case, I ran permatex black silicone around the entire seal once more.
