Questions & Answers

What exactly is included in this package?

Contents: a grit of 1000 3000 grit sanding discs, an easy-grip hand sanding pad, and an easy-to-use hand sanding pad 2 oz Headlight Coating (NEW liquid), buff wool pad, 4 oz PlastX, Headlight Coating Applicator Pad

What is the maximum number of headlights that this kit can produce?

I was able to fit 7 cars on one box several times.br>br>On several occasions, all the cars required was the PlastX step and beyond. br>br>What the kit fails to mention is that any leftover polish or sealant should be kept up for one year. 3 years. If you live in Arizona, California, Texas, Nevada, or New Mexico, click here. I usually run it once every seven months, but all it requires in terms of maintenance is PlastX and a nice clear coat. (Take a look at the spray can they're using.)

Is it possible to use a regular drill with this?

Yes, if you keep your speed in check. I used a half-speed setting and it worked perfectly.

Is a metal drill bit and a drill polishing wheel included in this kit?

As stated in the box. (I didn't open it because it was sealed)br>br>Included in the Kit: br>br> 4 oz PlasTX Polish 2 oz PlasTX Polish 3 oz PlasTX Polish 4 oz PlasTX Polish 2 oz PlasTX Polish 5oz G2402 Headlight Coatingbr>Wool Padbr>2 Finishing Discsbr>Sanding Padbr>Foam Applicator Padbr>5oz G2402 Headlight Coatingbr>Wool Padbr>2 Finishing Discsbr>Sanding Padbr>Sanding Padbr>Foam Applicator Pad br>br> This sounds like all of the different pads and products, but not the metal drill bit holder you'll need.

Make certain the headlamps are properly sanded
3/5

Beware. The sanding discs are flimsy and spongy, which is most likely for your safety. If your headlights are badly oxidized or weathered, you may need to use a couple of stages of grittier sand paper to cut through the microscopic pitting in the plastic, as I did. br>br>For this product, I watched YouTube tutorials and followed the directions to the letter. I also used a lot of "elbow grease" when hand-sanding the product, and while I'm happy with the results, the headlights still have a cloudy patina. br>br>What I should have done, and what I will do in the future, is purchase some sheets of coarser grit sand paper to go over the rough areas. I believe I could improve my performance the next time around, but I do have the benefit of hindsight. The next time you visit the site, you'll have a much better time. Of course, if your lamps are only slightly cloudy, you should proceed with caution. br>br>One tip I have for you is that once you've finished buffing the headlamp with the rubbing compound and wiped it away, you should be left with clear plastic. If there are any cloudy areas, you should go over them again. If you've already spent half an hour on it, this will be difficult. When I realized this about halfway through the process, I tried a second application of rubbing compound, but it wasn't quite enough. In my case, I decided to accept the results until I could repeat the process. br>br>Here's something else to consider: This process can be approached in a more professional manner. Professionals apply a clear coat paint that includes a UV protectant. The clear coat must then be cured with a UV lamp. I doubt this product provides anything close to that level of security.

It's simple to accomplish
5/5

So, I believe the image speaks for itself. It's simple to accomplish. It turned out beautifully. The lens needed a lot of buffing. I'm really looking forward to driving in the dark.

With a little effort, you can achieve excellent results

My 12- My 12-year-old daughter and I spent a lovely afternoon restoring the headlights on our Honda Odyssey to their former glory. br>br>Included in the kit are two sanding pads and a hand sanding pad, a drill-attached polishing wheel, a small bottle of PlastX polishing compound, and a small bottle of protectant fluid. It should be enough for three sets of headlights, in my opinion. br>br>Sanding takes a little time but isn't too difficult. We started by using painters tape to tape off the painted areas around each light. While I was sanding, I used a spray bottle to keep everything wet. br>br>After sanding, we wiped them dry with a microfiber cloth and then used the corded drill to finish the job. The headlights are hazy and frosted at this point. You can really see the magic happen after the polishing step. I am pleased with the clarity of the lenses. The protectant liquid is applied after the remainder of the compound has been cleaned up. Be cautious with this stuff because it dries quickly and feels like glue on your hands. In 15 minutes, the liquid hardens into a clear film, and you can remove the tape, wash the front of the car, and admire your work. It looks brand new again, and I expect it to last about a year before I have to do it again.

The most difficult aspect of a review is coming up with titles
5/5

Well, this turned out to be a LOT easier to use than I anticipated. In about an hour, I completed two cars, with fantastic results. A drill, a soft cloth, tape, and window cleaner are required, according to the instructions. All of these items are missing from the box. br>br>Here's a quick rundown of the instructions:
0. To protect the paint around the lights, you apply tape to the sides. (If you're careful, you won't even need it. ) )
1. Water is used to scrub the headlights, which is done first with the 3000 sandpaper on the hard foam handle (which is velcro) and then with the 1000 sandpaper. The hard foam handle is very simple to put on and remove. Wipe off. A white cloudy film will appear in your headlights.
2. To apply the polish, use a drill pad. It now has a clean appearance.
3. Apply a sealant by dripping it onto the soft foam pad provided and wiping it on. br>br>This is so simple and looks so nice that I can't believe more expensive car washes don't offer it. Or, for that matter, anyone. If you're going to pay someone to wax your car, this will give you far better results and is essentially the same. However, once you've figured out how to do it, you won't need anyone else to help you because it's so simple. br>br>I also had plenty left over, so it should last a long time; if I have to do this every year, it'll be worth it.

Although it works, there must be better kits available
3/5

Is it possible to use? Yes. Is this the best all-around repair kit? There is no way. I'll go over each component of the kit one by one. I've used the kit on two sets of headlights and noticed a few things that could be better. br>br>The sanding block and two sanding pads, one of 1000 grit and the other of 2000 grit, are sufficient. It would be preferable if they started with a 500 or 800 grit sandpaper to save time on heavy oxidation and then finished with a finer grit sandpaper like 2500 or 3000 to polish the headlights. br>br>Both the drill attachment buffer pad and the bottle of buffing compound are adequate. They give you a lot of liquid to drink. It does a decent job of buffing out the fine scratches left by the 2000 grit sandpaper. The horizontal scratches from the sandpaper can still be seen in the final process, which is why I recommend using a finer sandpaper. br>br>The headlight sealant and applicator pad aren't great; they smear all over the headlight and leave an unattractive finish. Because it was so bad, I almost wanted to sand it down and try again to seal the headlights. br>br>At the end of the day, I wouldn't mind paying for a higher-quality kit and a more professional result. br>br>Those who claim I didn't take my time are simply wrong. I spent about 2 hours from start to finish working on one set of headlights. While it does appear to be a lot better, the night shot clearly shows the sealant smudging.
