Questions & Answers

This may seem silly, but which side of the pad should be used to apply the liquid to the headlight? Is it the Rough S on the white side or the Rough S on the gray side?

No, this isn't a silly question. At first, I was as perplexed as well. The side of the pad that is gray (rough) is used. After the application, the headlight appears to be a little hazy. The spray, on the other hand, restores the gleam.

I used it last night, oblivious to the fact that it would rain today. The spray's instructions state that you should wait 24 hours before exposing it to water. Is there something wrong with me?

If it appears to be in good condition, you should be fine; however, the 24-hour recommendation is very conservative in order to cover all environments and situations. It might be fine if it dries out for a few hours.

I'm not sure how well this will work with my 1997 Avalon. They're a little rusted and worn. ?

On my 2000 Ford, it worked perfectly.

What is the maximum number of headlight lenses that this kit can accommodate?

This kit is for restoring the headlights of a single vehicle. 2 vehicles (2-person) 4 headlights) Of course, results will vary depending on the state of the headlights and the user's application technique. However, it is not uncommon for this kit to provide even more value.

Wow, it was well worth the time and effort
5/5

Wow- It's almost as if this stuff works by magic. Some claim to have purchased sand paper to go along with it. That is not something you should do. To begin, simply use this as usual and see what happens. Here are a few ideas: TAPE, TAPE, TAPE, TAPE, TAPE, TAPE, TAPE, TAPE, TAPE, TAPE, Don't forget to mask the area around your headlights with masking tape. It's not a long process. Masking tape, painters tape, and other similar tapes can be used. DO IT IN THE SHADE, IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. Do this project in the shade if at all possible. The reason for this is that it's much easier to see if the lights need to be cleaned further before applying the coating. It will appear cleaner in the sun compared to the shade. However, doing this in the sun isn't the end of the world. I did for the majority of the process, and it turned out great. TOWELS ARE REQUIRED. br>br> This required the use of two full-size towels. The towels are used to buff away the cleaning solution as well as to dry the light after it has been cleaned. For those two things, you'll need two different towels. SCRUB HARD. br>br> When it comes to the Cleaning step, put in some elbow grease. br>br>DO NOT CONCERN YOURSELF WITH BEING PERFECT. The news is fantastic. You can repeat the Cleaning step until you're satisfied that everything is clean. After the cleaning solution has dried, use a dry towel to buff it off. If darker spots remain, clean them even more thoroughly. br>br>HAZY IS CORRECT AND WEIRD AT THE SAME TIME. The strangest thing about using this stuff is that the light will not appear clean after you've cleaned it. It appears hazy and as if there is condensation on it. This is how it's supposed to appear. You'll see what I mean. After buffing away the dry cleaning solution, the light will appear clean but hazy. That is precisely what you are looking for. Prepare yourself for the next step, which will be magical. SPRAYING THE COATING IS MAGIC. br>br> The best step is to spray the coating on a clean, dry light, which transforms into a crystal clear, amazing-looking light. It's very satisfying.

The G2970 Two Step Headlight Kit produces excellent results
5/5

The G2970 Two Step Headlight Kit is the subject of this review. I didn't expect the final results to be as good as the manufacturer's demo, but I was pleasantly surprised. I mixed a little water into the cleaning compound and worked for about 7 minutes. I spent ten minutes scrubbing each headlight (the 2012 Acura MDX has large headlights) to ensure a thorough cleaning. I cleaned it with wet paper towels, dried it with a cloth, and then sprayed it twice with a healthy coat of spray. The lights appear to be in near-new condition. The pair of brand new headlights cost $800, so it was money well spent. If necessary, I'll repeat the procedure in 12 months, but since the car is waxed every few months, I'll probably be able to wait longer. It appears that there is enough for three vehicles. TIP: To avoid getting the spray on the vehicle's paint, tape a garbage bag to the front quarter panel and cut out the shape of the headlight before applying the spray.

The finishing spray is my personal favorite part
5/5

Excellent outcomes. This is an example of a hybrid technique. This worked for me, but I had to combine items from two kits to get a good result, and neither kit was particularly expensive. After reading far too many reviews, I decided to try a modified method. I'll go over this hybrid approach in more detail below. My 2008 Honda CR-V's headlight lenses are broken. V were in good shape, with only about half of them being moderately oxidized. I used two layers of masking tape to avoid damaging the painted or plastic parts nearby. To get close, start with 3/4-inch tape, then 1-inch tape. To protect it and provide a larger area for final masking (spraying), place a 1/2 inch of paper over it. br>br>Step One: I started by wet sanding the light with some 400 grit sandpaper I had on hand, then moved on to the 600 and 1500 grit sandpaper from the kit, finishing with some 1000 grit sandpaper I had on hand. I believe you only need three grits, and if the lights are only lightly oxidized, I recommend starting with 600. Sanding should always be done in a circular motion. All of this is made easier by wearing rubber gloves. Before continuing to sand, keep splashing water on it to remove the residue; as others have mentioned, you'll see the yellow oxidation residue running down as you sand; when the residue turns white, you've removed all the oxidation in that area. It will be necessary to sand some areas more than others. Keep an eye out for the masked areas. Rinse it and dry it when you're finished. On the surface, it should have the appearance of a nice, even frosting. Note: You might be able to get away with just using the cleaner if the oxidation is very light, but the cleaner is nothing more than a light rubbing compound. You must get rid of the yellow oxidation. br>br>Second Step: I used a foam drill attachment from another kit (Mother's 07251 NuLens) and polishing compound from that kit to polish it. Maybe I should have skipped this step and just gone straight to the cleaners (try it next time). The frosting turned into a haze as a result of this. Maybe next time I'll use the cleaner with the drill attachment. You can also do it by hand, or use a low-speed drill if you use a drill. Going too fast in the same spot (and it doesn't take much) will melt the plastic and leave marks that are difficult to remove (in one area, I had to go back to step 1). On low speed, I used a cordless drill. (Note: With that other kit, I didn't sand the attachment. That would have been far too aggressive, and I believe it would have resulted in severe circular scratches. I did it by hand, which takes a little longer but allows you to better control how much sand you use. )br>br>Step 3: Use a soft cloth to clean the cleaner. In a circular motion, go over the entire area. Any lingering residue should be rubbed away. I gave it another squirt of water and a thorough drying. The light should begin to appear clear, but not perfect; it should still appear hazy. br>br>4th Step: Using masking tape, add newspaper or plastic. There is a lot of overspray because the spray isn't directed. It comes out in a wide pattern. I wouldn't be too concerned, but a foot or two should be protected. It's actually preferable if there's a slight breeze because it helps to carry the overspray away from your vehicle. Using overlapping passes, spray a nice even coat on the light. If you use too much, drips will occur. The spray is extremely fine and easy to apply. You'll be astounded at how shiny and clear it becomes after using the spray. Allow 5 minutes for it to dry before repeating the process. Allow 10 minutes for the masking to dry before removing it carefully. You've completed the task. br>br>I only did it today, so I can't say how long it will last. If I'm lucky, I'll be able to update this in a year and say it's still looking good. Some kits only include polish, and I don't see how it can become completely clear and last for an extended period of time without this protective spray. There's enough spray here to repeat the process a couple of times. There's also a lot more cleaning. It took me about two hours to set up and clean up both headlights. If you have the ability to remove your car's entire headlight lens, do so to avoid any masking. Just make sure to tape the bulb openings and keep water out of your lens. I would only order this kit along with 400, 600, and 1000 wet sandpaper if I were to order again. I hope this information is useful.

What is the product that is being evaluated? Please keep in mind that the ratings for all of the products listed above are combined here
4/5

The G2970 two-channel amplifier was used. On a ten-year-old Honda Odyssey, we used a step product. The headlight lenses were hazy and rough to the touch. br>br>It took about an hour or two to complete the process, and it required some elbow grease. Pay close attention to all of the instructions. I used a roll of wide refinishing tape to mask off the lenses and applied two coats of the cleaning product to them. I applied two coats after prepping them for the coating spray. The coating is a little runny, so I had to use a damp rag to wipe some of it off the paint finish. Inside a garage is the best place to do this job. The lenses are incredibly clear and appear almost brand new after 24 hours of curing. br>br> I'm not sure how long it will last, but the product claims to be clear for a year. I really don't want to go through this all over again in a year, but we'll see what happens. I liked this product because it came with a coating spray, which some other products lack, and I still have about half of the kit's contents left, though I'm hoping I won't have to repeat the process anytime soon. At this point, there appears to be a significant improvement.
