A method of restoration that is technically superior
5/5

This is a must-have if your headlights have become oxidized and yellow hazed. I had just completed a successful restoration of my girlfriend's 2013 Camry headlights with the 3m kit a week prior. As a comparison, I've bought and used a variety of other options, including: br>Mothers restorationbr>3mbr>Turtlewax plastic polishbr>Blue magic headlight sealantbr>Maguire's headlight coatingbr>Various compounds and waxesbr> rotary buffersbr>Ryder's Literight clearcoatbr>br>Here's what I found out. In the vast majority of these cases, restoring a headlight necessitates several sanding steps. It's not a big deal, and they're all pretty much the same. This item is unique. br>br> In fact, a friend came to my office with headlights yesterday, so I'm sure we're almost ready for the trash. I was able to restore his lights to crystal clear condition in less than 5 minutes after turning on this product. br>br>To keep them that way, I applied Maguire's headlight coating. I didn't use the product's second step because masking off the car would have taken longer. There is no need to sand the surface. Better outcomes. br>If you purchase this, you will be ecstatic. br>Tried it. Do not buy the lightrite product as recommended by another reviewer because you must first sand the light with 600 grit. It didn't turn out as well as we had hoped. br>For a light that was already clear, the Maguire's coating did a better job of protecting it. It's made for smooth plastic, whereas other clearcoats require a rough surface to adhere to. br>br>Buy this and Maguire's coating and you'll have your lights fixed in less than 10 minutes, I promise.

I'm only looking at the UV coating to see how well it works
5/5

The clear uv protective spray is the only product reviewed in this review. It's fantastic! Because of the sheeting action, it's simple to coat and protect the headlights after restoration* without the orange peel or the risk of runs that come with traditional clear coats. After a day or two in the sun, this stuff cures as strong as the OEM coating and restores the oem gloss and clarity. br>br>However, when spraying the clear coat, exercise caution and wear an appropriate respirator because the fumes are extremely toxic. br>br>* By restoration, I mean the complete removal of the oem headlight coating, the restoration/correction of the plastic surface, and the restoration of optical clarity through various steps of sanding and polishing, either by hand or mechanically. The steps I mentioned are far more extensive than what this kit provides, but the uv coating alone is worth the price if you want to protect your work and the headlight for a long time.

The UV coating prevents the headlights from yelowing once more
5/5

1. To obtain my outcomebr> I used a restoration kit from 3M for my headlights.
2. After polishing the headlight, use the first tank to wipe it down. br>3. This kit's UV protective Clearcoat was applied in two layers, and the result has already lasted 1,5 months. So far, it has served its purpose. I strongly advise you to thoroughly mask everything in your immediate vicinity. If the clear coat has gotten on the paint, wipe it off with alcohol right away. Otherwise, the paint will dry. It can also be dried with wet paper (which I used to mask around the headlights). Using paper is a bad idea. The most effective way to utilize a trash plastic bag is to fold it in half. However, ensure that the coat does not come in contact with the paint or the masking layer. Previously, when you were using a power tool. Three layers of masking tape should be used to protect the paint's edges. With more protection, there is a lower chance of obediently damaging the paint. My headlights have been replaced twice, once a year ago and again just over a month ago. I used no UV clear coat for the first time. Make sure you don't make the same blunder that I did. It will take 4 hours to complete the task. Best wishes to you.

How to clean headlights in the proper manner
4/5

The cleaning lady is incredible. The clear coat, on the other hand, is a different story. This kit includes a cleaner/stripper yellow remover, which I really like. The clear coat spray did not appeal to me, which is why I only gave it four stars. I work in the used car industry and do details for a small number of customers. My road car, which I use to attend auctions, is shown in the photo. I had trouble seeing at night because the headlights were so bad. My headlights had oxidized and turned a deep yellow color. Passengers in my car would occasionally inquire if my headlights were turned on late at night. As a result, I had no choice but to carry them out. Having worked in the automotive industry for nearly 15 years, I've tried just about every headlight cleaning method available. To clean them, I typically use 3M headlight cleaner, which is effective. I wanted to try something new just to see what would happen, and as I previously stated, the cleaner included in this kit is the best I've ever used. Just for the cleaner, I'll buy this kit again in the future. Here's how I clean and protect my headlights the right way. To begin, fill the bottle halfway with water. Spray the headlights down, but do so in the shade or in a garage rather than in the sun. Wetsand the headlight with 2000 grit sandpaper or up to 800 grit sandpaper, depending on how bad it is. Do not skimp on the wet sanding, as it is the most crucial step. The same goes for any paint job: if the surface is not properly prepped, the paint will not last. After that, wetsand the headlight and wipe it with a microfiber cloth. Use the cleaner directly on the surface after you've wiped it down. You can now use a drill or a polisher to finish the job. For headlights, I use a mini polisher, but I've done it by hand before and it still works. So, for a few minutes, polish the headlight in a circular motion with the polisher. Alternatively, go back and forth with a microfiber. Once you've completed the task. Remove any residue with ANOTHER clean microfiber. After you've completed that, come back to me. If you don't apply a clear coat to the headlights within 5 minutes, they won't stay clean for very long. I didn't care for the clear coat that came with it. I tried it out and didn't care for the way it reacted to the plastic. It's unlikely to protect you, in my opinion. For the headlight spray, I used Meguiar's clear coat. It's as simple as spraying it from a distance of 8 inches. Wait 5 minutes more before applying the second coat. After that, your headlights will look fantastic and will not oxidize or yellow in a few weeks.
