I'm not sure what possessed me to order these for my TJ because they're black and look ridiculous with the OEM chrome headlight bezels and headlights. I'm pretty sure I drank a few too many sasparillas. In any case, I needed them, so I tried to make use of them. They don't fit well, so I had to use a grinder to cut a split in them. I will say that they are a nice sturdy material, but because they aren't engineered properly, it makes it more difficult to make them fit. br>br>In the end, I threw these out and replaced them with some nice OEM replacements from Omix- Ada. I advise you to follow my lead. br>br>I can see where these would look better than the OEM stainless bezels if you're painting your OEM bezels black (which, by the way, 2005 called to say they wanted their mod idea back). Even so, you'd need to cut these to make them fit.
They're not going to work. I needed to replace a broken retainer ring when I was replacing the old 7" glass halogen bulbs with led bulbs. These were purchased because they were reasonably priced and were stamped steel rather than spot welded metal, as the original retainers were. The bulbs were too big for them. To make the interior circumference of the large enough for the bulb to fit, I had to file it.
The four tabs that hold the lamp in place are evenly spaced, but the holes for the screws on the Jeep are not. Unlike the photos, only two screws lined up. Additionally, the photos show modern LED laps, which are slightly larger than glass halogen. I had to snip the ring in half and wrap it around the lamp because it would not slide over the lamp as it should. I didn't return because I didn't want to pay for a ticket, so I had to chop and rig what I was given. TJ 4, 1997. br>br> 0 SPORT.
I ordered these to fit my Jeep and received them, but something was wrong: they wouldn't screw in because they wouldn't fit over the headlight. After fitting and measuring, I discovered that they aren't for a 7 in headlight; if so, the headlight must have a resect ring or else this won't fit. It's a pity because they look great and would last a lot longer than the stock ones.
On my TJ, I installed smoked leds to replace the factory lights. I was able to see the factory ring, which was chrome. To match the black, these were the only option. For the smoked headlight swap, this is a must-have. They blended in seamlessly and were perfectly aligned.
They don't fit around TJ headlights that have been installed aftermarket. These were purchased to go with a set of trucklite led headlights. The opening is too small to allow the headlight to fit through. My factory rings were simply spray painted black.
I recently upgraded to LED headlights and decided to swap out my OEM retaining rings, each of which had a retaining point brake, for these. These are a little tighter and thicker than the OEM units, which could be due to the black coating.
The mounting tabs had come loose due to old/weak welds, so I purchased these. It doesn't fit straight out of the box. To get it around the 7-inch headlight, you'll need to cut a slit. I haven't made the cut yet because I'm trying to figure out where it will cause the least amount of shaking while driving. I'll update this review if I'm permitted to.
