I wanted to replace my dreadful halogen bulbs, but they came with a black spacer that prevented me from installing an LED because the metal retainer ring presses against the black space to keep the bulb in place. br>br>So this little black spacer addon is fantastic and does exactly what it should. The only difference is that getting the ring to press against the driver's side headlight takes a little more effort. br>br>Because this spacer is thinner on the sides, you must be careful where you place the ring. The passenger side is unaffected. br>br>Keep in mind that the factor rubber dust caps are not compatible. You must purchase a replacement part. I used one that was inverted so that the fan could stick out and the LED could work at normal operating temperatures. Good buy! br>br> It didn't require any sanding. The pillars or sticks are slightly smaller than OEM, but this has no bearing on fitment.
On a 2008 Mazda 3 hatchback, this application is for an H7 LED bulb conversion. I did some research and thought I could install them without taking the entire headlight assembly off the vehicle, but I was wrong because it's like a puzzle and the only way I could fully access the headlight bulb location was to take the headlight assembly off the vehicle, and I still had a hard time installing both the adapters and the bulbs because the bases of the LED bulbs were too large and you'd waste a lot of time just trying to swing the bulb holster. Then you'll have to deal with the adapters that slide in between the bulbs and the hold-down clips, which you can't seem to figure out how to make work and fit properly. I was successful in installing both led bulbs in the headlight system after playing with it for about an hour with a sore back due to the fact that you have to focus and bend over to figure it out. It's not a particularly pleasurable job, and it necessitates a great deal of caution and patience. Now I don't want to think about how long these led bulbs will last or when I'll have to buy a new set and reinstall them. Installation by a novice is not recommended. You must carefully align everything, which is not an easy task.
As others have stated, it did get the job done with some modifications (filed down to fit properly and even the prongs). I believe I could have folded aluminum foil and shaped it with the same level of quality.
This is required for my new LED headlight, which will be installed on my 2010 Mazda CX- The quality is whatever you want it to be. It does a good job of holding the headlight in place, but it could be a little thicker.
The product was successful in providing the necessary spacing for the LED bulb to work in the Mazda5. br>Installing the bulb and properly clipping the spring clips that hold it in place is a dreadful ordeal.
The price is a little high for something they know you need to put HID led headlights on a first generation Mazda 3, but it worked great and was quick and easy to install.
These were purchased for the purpose of installing LEDs on my motorcycle. br>It worked. . . but only after a few tweaks. The prongs or tabs were too short, so we had to come up with a way to make them a little longer so that the LED could be held in place.
