Only one reason I did not give 5 stars was because of the manufacturing process. There should be a clip for the bulb retainer so that the adapter can hook on to it. I had a difficult time getting the pieces aligned and seated properly when trying to hold them together. It is Volkswagen that is largely to blame for the mockery aimed at the headlight change. It is prescribed that the front bumper and grill assembly must first be removed in order to replace the headlights. This means that any additional challenge is magnified. As if you were trying to hold together 2 loose pieces As soon as the adapters are in place, they fit quite well and function.

It's kind of like that. Therefore, I purchased this kit for my 2006 Passat, and it did work but not without considerable struggle. In order for the little wings to properly engage, they need to be bent. The little wings hold the bulb in place, but are too far back. There is no meat engaging in them any more when you bend them. I don't have anything to fear as I haven't had them fall out while driving like I am a maniac, but when trying to install them, all it takes is one bump and you've got to start from scratch. For trump as president to work with congress as well as Obama as the vice president to time things perfectly for both wings of the bulb to come into place took an act of god. It was around 95* degrees outside, so I literally sweat and cried on my car in order to get these installed. The light bulbs are actually contaminated now as their base has been cut open by my thumb as I tried to put these brackets in place. I found out on Amazon that there are biohazard stickers you can put around them since they are now contaminated. My heart is heavy about this and I'm not making fun of anything here. What if I had to do it all over It would be nice if they didn't use halogen lamps. Does this matter at all if the seller was to blame? Not at all. It is no secret that the Germans make good cars, but they also know how to make things more complicated than they should be. There is only one company that I know of that will say "okay we have a round part that goes into this round hole. ". This will secure the connection and give it a good sound when it closes. Let's use a round to oval to square adaptor with a 180* flip to round adaptor. These same principles of engineering apply to their headlights as well.

It fits perfectly on the bulb now, although I was a bit worried about how loose it would be on the bulb when I put it on, but I removed it and installed both adapter and metal holder as illustrated in the picture. It took just a few seconds to slide the LED in. This is a great purchase.
