Questions & Answers

Is it plug-and-play and does it come with a gasket?

Yes. There are three bulbs in the 2010 model; one white bulb receptacle and one brake light bulb receptacle are used. A foam weather stripping gasket is already installed in the installation.

What is the location of the light's trim cover?

It fits perfectly despite the lack of a trim cover.

When you start the truck, all of the lights turn on. The brake lights are functional. When the truck is in reverse, the reverse lights do not work. What am I supposed to do about this?

What you're saying is that the lights on the third brake light aren't functional in reverse. Was it possible to use the old break light with them? Make sure your plugs and fuses are all in good working order.

Is the cargo light still working as it should? (lights up when doors open or are unlocked with a remote)?

I had to turn off the white light because it was always on.

It's a cinch to use
5/5

This was the most straightforward adjustment. Remove the old light housing while leaving the factory screws in place, as well as the hinge nuts into which the screws are inserted. Remove the bulbs from the three lights: two brake lights and one reverse light. One white adapter should be inserted into one of the brake sockets, while the other should be inserted into the reverse socket. Yes, there will be one open socket, but it will be unnecessary. The form gasket has been said to be weak, but it can be replaced with an aftermarket form gasket (search for it). Replace the factory screw with the one that came with the new housing. Remember to include the white rubber washers in a clear bag. Mine almost got away from me when it fell to the ground. br>br>It works great, but as with anything on a car, it should be checked periodically.

Light of exceptional quality
5/5

It was simple to set up. It works and looks fantastic, a significant improvement over my previous center light, which was moldy and discolored. As others have pointed out, it does not fit snug or flush with the truck like the original; due to the thickness of the seal, it sits about 1/4 inch out from the truck edge. I wasn't sure if I liked it at first, but after 24 hours of consideration, I've decided that it's fine and that it's well sealed, so I'm satisfied with my purchase.

LEAKS, then hours of labor to remove the mold from the cabin
3/5

First and foremost, a good piece of advice/learned lessons: Install the light and give it a thorough cleaning with plenty of water. Then look inside the cabin for any leaks. If it leaks, it will soak the ceiling panel and cause the back window to fall down in the center. br>br>Leaks profusely and cannot be tightened enough due to a very rigid rubber seal (and YES, any residue from the previous light was carefully removed). Significant water intrusion occurred as a result of the rigid, non-watertight seal. Water soaked the insulation behind the backrests of the rear seats, and the back cabin ceiling was completely soaked near the back window. On u-tube, I learned a lot. It's a cool bean, but it's not easy to flip the backrest forward in a tube. After that, I had to disassemble everything and clean the mold off of the back pad and the floor pad. I had to clean up the mess for four hours. I consider myself to be a competent mechanic, and I thought I had done everything correctly. However, there was no way to tighten the screws any further without causing the light to break. I decided to spend an extra ten dollars on a light. BUYING IS NOT A GOOD IDEA!.

The light works fine, but the seal does not
3/5

This was purchased to repair a dreaded third brake light leak on a Ford F-150. Certain years have been numbered in the 150's. When I first got it and put it in place, it had a thick seal. I had it on for less than a week after receiving it, and the first rain, not even a heavy rain, revealed that the leak in my headliner was worse with this new light than with the old one it replaced. When I removed it to investigate the problem, I discovered that the seal, which had been fairly thick and spongey a week before, had become flat and hard and was no longer sealing. First, this was not a high-end light, so I didn't expect much, but I did expect it to last longer than a week and nearly ruin a costly and difficult-to-repair headliner. A word of advice for anyone who owns a Ford F-150: With this third barke light / back of cab light leak issue, I'm down to $150. Ford will not assist in the first place. Their replacement light is extremely expensive, and the seal isn't much better, so it fails in the same way as the original. Using silicone or sealant around the light to seal it, as some even Ford recommends, is a bad idea because the truck flexes and the silicone will eventually rip, develop a hole or tear, trapping water and making the problem worse, as well as ruining your paint to the point of having to sand down the entire area and repaint. I've found the best solution so far, and it's been raining for two days straight since I finished it. Replace the seal on the cheap online bought new light with the 3/4 wide and 1/2 inch thick self adhesive rv / auto seal you can get for $10 for 10 feet at any box home improvement store, and keep and use your original factory screws and clips for attachment because the ones you buy online either don't come with any or don't work. And Ford wants to charge an absurd amount for only two screws and two small clips.

This is a great upgrade from my F150's stock third brake light
5/5

It isn't as flush as the stock brake light, but no one will notice. The fact that you can change the brake light and reverse light display to a long string of white LEDs or a long string of red LEDs is fantastic, but the screws that come with it aren't great and don't have the option of being used with a nut driver like the stock ones do. While driving in both screws with a screwdriver, they both stripped but went all the way in. Also, according to several reviews, the insulation on this makes the lights stick out about a quarter inch, compared to the stock version, which is a little more flush and can leak over time. Anyone who doesn't own a F1 50 is unlikely to notice. I added black silicone around the entire seal, along with the insulation, to ensure that the insulation does not break down over time and cause leaks and rust. It cost me $10 and I think it was worth it. I'm upgrading my tail lights to the raptor style black housing, so this was a great upgrade, and the total cost of the upgrade, including the extra silicone I purchased, was $40, so I give it five stars.

As simple as 1, 2, 3
4/5

Done! I received the package, which was in good condition, with the product wrapped in bubble wrap and the lens wrapped in shrink wrap. Very nice and safe environment. Simply because there were no instructions, I gave this a four-star rating overall. Isn't it true that there were only two simple rubber washers? That I didn't do anything with during the installation. br>However, everything is simple and straightforward. Remove the old lamp/housing, disconnect the factory bulbs, and plug in the new LED squares, and you're done! It's almost time for you to arrive at your destination. Once re- You're finished once you've installed the housing with the factory screws. Just be careful not to overdo it. A tip: I used a black sharpie to black out everything on the old factory screws, so we'll see how well that holds up versus spray painting the screw heads. Finally, I'm a big fan of the new piece on my F- The only thing about this product is that it does not sit flush against your cab as I continue to black out all of the emblems, logos, light housings, and so on. It protrudes a fraction of an inch or so, but it provides a secure connection. I hope you found this information useful.

Bright Lights are ready to use when you plug them in
5/5

Light was presented in a very attractive manner. It was just a case of plugging it in and turning it on. New screws and rubber washers were included in the package. The lighting is intense. There are no issues.
