Questions & Answers

Is this a submersible product?

I have these lights on my boat trailer and they have been submerged for the past three years with no problems. I don't believe they are designed to be submerged, but to be safe, make sure all of your connections are sealed.

There are no instructions included, and the wire colors aren't even the same as those on the case. Is the white wire that connects to the eyelet lug grounded?

Yes, white is the ground in all LED lights.

Are these the same lights that come with the Maxxhaul 70205 package?

I'm not sure what they're called, but they're standard trailer lights.

This isn't entirely LED lighting
3/5

I just finished installing these after going over them today. They appear to be in good working order and perform as expected. But it's what's on the inside that counts. These light fixtures aren't entirely made of LEDs. The tail/turn lights in the back are LEDs, but the side marker lights are traditional bulbs. They worked fine right out of the box, and I'm going to keep them because they're less expensive than the trailer lights available locally. But watch out! The fact that it is a mix of LED and bulbs is not mentioned in the description.

NOT EVERY ONE OF THEM WAS A COMPLETE LIE
3/5

All lights, including sidelights, are clearly stated to be LED. The side light is a regular filament incandescent bulb, which is not the case. Why would they go to such lengths to make a false claim? I knew some were like this, so I went with these because they said they were all LED. Not entirely true, but I had no choice but to use them or waste more time looking for replacements in the area. It really hurts my feelings when a seller says something that isn't true. Not that it matters for my purposes, but these aren't waterproof, and the gaskets aren't well seated under the lens, and the glue where the wires come out is clearly not completely around the wires.

The manufacturer messed up the wiring on the right taillight
3/5

Colors of wires have been switched; Everything else appears to be in order. I bought these on Amazon because they were slightly less expensive than buying a new set in a store. They have the same appearance and feel as ordinary lights. These come with a third white wire that terminates with a metal ring, which is slipped onto the bolt and sucked down tight against the metal when the nut is tightened, which was nice. This provides a more solid foundation than relying solely on the bolt to make good contact with the trailer body. For that, I'll give you a plus one star. However. br>br>Because the right taillight wires were incorrectly switched inside the light during manufacturing, the running and brake light functions were switched when I connected the light using the standard color configuration. The side running light would brighten when I pressed the brake pedal, but the back brake light did not. Only the side running light, not the back brake light, would blink when I used the blinker. I double-checked my wiring and discovered that everything was in working order. My brake and running lights are connected directly from the left to the right taillight, so I know they should be the same. Everything works fine now after I swapped the connections on the right taillight, though the wire colors are now reversed on just that one light, which irritates me. Plus, diagnosing and reconnecting that light took an extra 30 minutes of my time, so I only gave it two stars.

Employees who aren't new, aren't cheap enough, and aren't put together well? Move on to something better if you require a well-built product
3/5

You can make them work if you're looking for a cheap way to get by and know how. The clear window, which can be used to display a license plate, is edging out, creating an ideal spot for water to splash in and obliterate the light. If the window is secure enough, clear silicone or a hot glue gun can be used to close the gap. I would have returned them if they weren't so cheap or if I didn't need the license plate light. They were installed, they worked, and the repair was hidden on my trailer's setup, so I decided to keep them. One note: I used a light silicone on the gap so that if they fail, I can send them back without altering the product and voiding my return. Let's hope they continue to work for a long time.

For the MaxxHaul 70205, this is a good replacement set
4/5

I've had the MaxxHaul 70205 for eight years, and my bracket recently broke, resulting in the light being smashed on the highway. However, this isn't a problem with the lights. br>br>I couldn't find a specific, individual replacement for the kit, so I bought this 70460 set because I didn't need the entire kit again. br>br>They have shorter studs in the back of the lights than my other set, and there is NO silicone on the back of the light like the pictures show, or like my old lights had. br>br>However, I removed the lens, and you can see from my attached photo that the LED is completely sealed and is one piece with the side LED's, and is glued to the front lens. br>br>On my old lights, the lens was a separate piece These newer ones should be superior because they are lighter and should put less strain on the bracket. br>br>I'm deducting a star for the shorter studs and the lack of silicone as advertised, but there is a drain at the bottom of the light, and I don't see why these shouldn't be submersible given that the lighting unit is sealed. br>br>Also, as mentioned by another reviewer, there is a bulge in the left light on the clear cover for the license plate light, but given the sealed nature of the lighting unit, I'm not too concerned.

These aren't going to be waterproof in any case! This model is waterproof, according to the specifications page
3/5

There's no way! br>br>One of the photos posted by another user shows the hole through which the wires pass. There are no gaskets on any of the lenses. The lenses do not have any kind of tight tolerance when it comes to fitting to the lamp body. Believe me, it's a sieve. br>br>The first set I ordered had one lamp with a cracked main lens and a piece rattling around inside, as well as a bead of caulk-coated caulk-coated caulk-coated caulk-coated caulk-coated caulk-coated caulk-coated caulk-coated caulk-coated caulk- as if it were goo where the wires were inserted Returned. There is no such goo in the second set. I'm guessing I didn't get a returned item because they were both wrapped in bubble wrap. br>br>In any case, I'm going to caulk the holes and lens joints and install them. I plan to use them in a saltwater environment. I'm guessing I'll treat these as if they were disposable. To avoid blowing fuses, I believe I will disconnect the wire harness prior to launching (submerging). My guess is that the salt water residue will crust over the circuit board contacts, causing them to short out. br>br>I believe these would be suitable for non-smokers. trailers for boats Caulking everything is likely still a good idea.
