The springs in the socket bend the lamp out of shape. In late-model Toyotas, the cargo light will not work. This is the first negative review I've been forced to write in over 17 years, despite the fact that the majority of my posts have been five stars. br>br>Based on the large number of five-star reviews, I was very excited to purchase two sets of these. br>br>However, I was extremely disappointed. The circuit boards on all four lamps were bent by the springs of the socket that held them in place. It took a lot of effort to get them into the spring sockets. I gently pushed the metal end cap into the spring socket with the eraser end of a pencil. The end caps collapsed and dented inwards with ease, much to my surprise. br>br>While the lamps worked in some situations, I didn't expect them to last long due to the flexing of the ends, which will most likely cause the connections between the ends and the circuit boards to deteriorate. br>br>Late model Toyota hatchback and van cargo lamps with the grey rocker switch will not work with the lamps. The rocker switch revolves around the conical end's tip. The rotation wreaks havoc on the wide circuit board, eventually causing the lamp to work its way out of the socket's spring ends. I replaced them all with Sylvania Osram's structurally sound LED units, which I bought at a higher price from another Amazon vendor. They are direct replacements for incandescent bulbs and have the same shape as the originals. br>br>I returned both sets due to structural flaws.
I put one in the cargo area and another in the passenger compartment. The one in the cargo area fought his way in. The dome light in the seating area broke during installation. When I compared the LED fit to the original, I noticed that the LED was slightly longer. My guess is that they won't fit the Tundra or any other Toyota model because Toyota tends to reuse parts across multiple models. This product should not be purchased if you own a Toyota.
I'm not sure what I was expecting when I placed this order. It was essentially a spur-of-the-moment decision. One of my Miata's parking lights burned out, and while searching Amazon for replacement bulbs, I came across the Alla Lighting brand, which had good reviews, so I added the parking lights to my cart. I then decided to see if there were any other bulbs available for my car, and came across these. There is a significant distinction. Until I replaced my old dome light with this, I had no idea how dim it was. The entire interior of the car (granted, it's a Miata, so it's not a large space ;) )) is bathed in sunlight. It's truly magnificent. Now I'm itching to replace the parking lights and replace all of my other lights with Alla Lighting bulbs. The highest level of endorsement possible.
The light is nice and bright, but the color temperature is very high, and I find the light a little too blue and harsh for my tastes. However, when compared to the original incandescent bulb, it greatly improves visibility in the car when the light is turned on. br>br>However, keep an eye on things while installing. I was trying to replace my dome light late at night when there wasn't much else to guide me. The back heat sink is bare aluminum, and I accidentally shorted out the dome light prongs, blowing the fuse. I would recommend turning off the light before installing this, as it would have saved me from having to replace the fuse.
The before and after photos don't do the transformation justice, but the increase in light output is incredible! It's a complete 180-degree turn. The output is much brighter, and the light is crisp and clear. The LEDs themselves appear to be well-made and arrived in attractive packaging. I upgraded all of the interior lighting in my Pathfinder with this brand, and I'm very happy with the results. I've been waiting a long time (over 2 months) to write this review to see if these LEDs would have any issues, but they haven't.
I chose the 31 mm Alla LED (far R in photo) to fit my dome light's socket and the 28 mm Alla LED (middle in photo) to replace my dim OEM halogen trunk bulb (far L in photo) to replace interior dim halogen lights. Because the socket sizes in my Toyota RAV4 differ, a different length LED bulb worked best in each socket without bending the contacts. I adore how much brighter these LED bulbs make each of those locations, and the fact that they come in packs of two means I now have a spare bulb for each.
It took less than a minute to remove the dome cover, with the majority of that time spent using the screwdriver. br>br>It's wonderful to be surrounded by light! br>As a rough comparison, I have an Ozark 200 lumen auto-dimming light. Similar interior brightness by dimming the headlamp and turning on the side lamps (which I use to read magazines in the dark comfortably). The photo of the xA interior was taken at 1/15 f/1 for the technical geeks. 8 iso 1600, which is equivalent to EV 5. 67, which places the brightness somewhere between EV 5 (school auditoriums, night home interiors) and EV 6 (brightly lit home interiors, night fairs and amusement parks). br>br>In other words, it's a lot brighter than the original incandescent, which is nice, but not so bright that you can't see out safely at night while driving or reading maps, in my opinion. br>br>Strongly suggested. br>br>.
In my Kia Forte/Cerato 2017, I used this to replace the tungsten vanity mirror lamps. The colors are so vibrant! br>br>Like most, it has an internal circuitry that protects the device from common car voltage fluctuations (10-volts). 15VDC); Other LED bulbs without this feature, according to my previous experience, only last a few months.
Plus: Because it lacks polarity, it's simple to set up and connect.
