Questions & Answers

Is this item already wired for use with a 12V plug?

I connected mine to a rocker switch and have had no problems with it for the past two years. Because the light draws 6 amps, you'll be fine as long as your switch can handle that.

Is it possible to use it in a vertical orientation?

If your mounting bar is vertical, that is. If not, then no, barring some sort of fabrication.

I intend to attach the light to a metal surface with magnets. Is it true that the brackets are made of steel?

They are, indeed.

How long does this light last in total?

12" is written in the description.

LED LIGHT BAR WITH A BRIGHT COLOR
5/5

The mounting brackets and hardware for the LED Light Bar were included. I bought a light bar for my son to mount on a small tractor for winter plowing in the evenings. He's not going to use the brackets that came with it because he'll be mounting it somewhere else where they won't fit. He's currently working on his own. He did a quick test to see how bright the light is, and it is extremely bright, according to him. As soon as he's finished, I'll update my review with photos. br>NOTE: THIS PAGE HAS BEEN UPDATED. 1/2/17 - My son has now completed the installation of the light bar on his homemade bracket. It performs admirably. The light bar is extremely bright and works great for his plowing jobs. (I apologize for the poor photos; my phone does not take very good photos. ) It has made him extremely happy. br>All of my product reviews are honest and fair, and they are all based on my or my family's personal experiences. I appreciate you taking the time to read my review, and if you found it helpful or not, please select the appropriate button and leave any comments that might help me write a better review for consumers like you.

I have these lights on a semi truck and they work great
3/5

These are fantastic lights. I have them on a semi truck and use them at night when I'm backing up. They brighten up my entire path. They've saved my bacon on numerous occasions and are an excellent addition to my truck. Thank you so much for a product that is exactly as described. It was easy to install with plenty of bolts. br>br>Just an update these got moisture inside after 3 months of use and are now garbage not worth buying due to poor quality sealant if used indoors they probably would be ok but definitely not mounted on a vehiclebr>br>July 23/2018br>These lights were nice but after two months have filled with moisture and broken they are made of cheap quality parts and worked well until weather turned them into junk. With normal driving down the highway and bugs hitting them, the light cover scratches easily, and they become foggy quickly as a result of this. They're only worth a single star at this point.

This is an excellent lightbar
4/5

On September 19, 2018, we made some changes. There was moisture under the lens despite siliconing every edge I could find. I'm disappointed that despite the extra effort, the water was still able to get in. I recently purchased a larger light bar from the same seller, and I'll have to take a chance on doing a better silicone job on that one as well. Original: br>br>Original: br>br>Original: br>br>Orig This is an excellent light bar. br> Instead of having mounting brackets on the end caps, I chose this one because it has post mounting brackets. Because of the poor gasket around the lens, I deducted one star. I've read reviews on dozens of LED light bars with similar construction, and they all have complaints about water getting behind the lens and ruining the product. Others have advised siliconing the lens all the way around.
The gasket behind the plastic lens only goes about 90 of the way on each side and top and bottom of the photo shows the gasket behind the plastic lens Why these companies thought this was a good idea, and why they haven't changed things after so many negative reviews, is beyond me. If you don't put some silicon around the edges of the lenses on any of these light bars, you'll end up with a ruined light bar.

This works, but it falls short of the claims made
3/5

First and foremost, this light bar is functional. It does what you'd expect it to do: it throws light. That's about all I have to say about it. br>br>However, it is unmistakably NOT a "72W" light bar, as advertised. I took some measurements because the amount of light thrown was clearly not comparable to what 72W could produce. at 13. This draws one volt at 9 volts. It draws 49 amps, so it's a 21W light bar in reality. less than a third of the claimed amount! br>br>In addition, the build quality is suspect - Quite a few of the LEDs are VERY dim. The reflection pattern is detracted from by the center in the reflectors. br>br>On a positive note, the clamps are well-made and sturdy. br>br>Now, if you're happy with a 21-watt light bar, that's fine; it's cheap, but don't expect it to be particularly bright, reach a great distance, or be waterproof.

What were the results of the shop tests? Here's what I discovered before putting this light on my van
3/5

I purchased three 12" Nilights to install, but first I put them through a series of tests. They claim to be 75 Watts, but at only 12 Watts, they aren't even close. They only draw two volts at six volts. It only adds up to 12 amps at 4 amps. 6 X 2. 4 = 30. Not 72 Watts, but 24 Watts. It then claims to have 12 driving lights and 12 floodlights. Despite the fact that the reflectors were slightly different, I discovered that there was no hot spot in the beam's center. Finally, it's simply a good floodlight. When it comes to some of the reviews claiming that there was a condensation issue, I can see how that could occur. The front lens of plastic is pressed against an internal seal with 12 front-located Allan screws pressing directly on the plastic without the use of a pressure plate, resulting in uneven pressing of the front plastic, but the main issue is the open slot all around the lens where water can enter the seal area and pool in the bottom slot until it can work its way in. As far as I can tell, the only sure-fire fix is to use silicone all around the lens, as well as silicone over all ten front screws and the three on either end cap to prevent moisture from entering the screw threads. After you've completed the screws, cut up paper towels into small pieces and wipe away any exposed silicone, leaving only a speck around the screws and in the head hole, which is fine. A rubber seal is present on both end caps. The wire opening is the only thing left in most mounts; it faces down and should not be a problem, but it could be sealed. Allow everything to dry overnight. Note: Never use Silicone II I repeat NEVER use Silicone II I repeat NEVER use Silicone II I repeat NEVER use Silicone II repeat NEVER use Silicone II HERB THE STRONGMAN-.

In the first week, the mounting brackets came loose
3/5

Not . In the first week, the mounting brackets came loose. For farm work, these are not heavy-duty brackets. Customer service has yet to respond to my request for replacement cards. I've sent them three emails and have yet to receive a response.
