However, the construction is absolutely fantastic. I bought a set of these lights and only needed one, so I disassembled the other, and the construction blew me away, with beautifully metal injection molded parts and excellent gasketing throughout. I am confident that this light would be completely waterproof, if not submersible. When I bench tested the light using my lab power supply, things started to fall apart. As you can see in the image, it's only drawing 0 watts at 12 volts. This light is rated at 62A, which means it is only capable of producing 7. Power output is 5ish watts, less than a third of the description's 18W rating! (P=V*I, P=12V*, P=V*I, P=V*I, P=V*I, P= 62A, P=7. 44W). This was true regardless of the input voltage, which ranged from 9 to 24 volts. 30V, which I confirmed with a second calibrated DMM. On a Dodge 1500, these were used as auxiliary reverse lights. It's a pain to have to back up at night and look through factory tinted glass. So I experimented with brighter light bulbs, but they were still insufficient. These were connected by tapping into the towing harness's seven pin connector, not the four pin connector. The center pin is in the wrong position. As a result, when the truck is in reverse, these lights turn on. I measured each one and they each draw about 2 amps, so the harness isn't a problem. Next, I tightened the allen heads and, just in case, wrapped a small piece of silicon around the cable exiting the lamp housing. The mounting worked fine, but the threads on the aluminum block were stripped out, so I had to drill them out and use different screws. They are definitely bright, and I can now see behind me; in fact, I can see people moving behind me at night. I wouldn't put them on a switch because I believe it is against the law for inspection purposes. I've got them aimed slightly down and out toward the truck's corner. We'll see how they fare against the elements and the passage of time.
