Questions & Answers

Since all of the negative reviews claiming that the glue fails, have you replaced the Velcro tabs?

Before even putting the sunshield up, we go out and buy new velcro tabs. It has velcro squares that are black in color. I bought two packages of white oval velcro pieces from Walmart, and we installed two of them on the two doors of our travel trailer with no problems. Because of the negative reviews and the fact that they appear to be too small, I would not recommend using the velcro tabs that come with the sunshield. I hope this has been of assistance.

I'm looking for a window cover to keep the heat out of my house. Is there any way to insulate the window to keep the heat out in the summer?

It outperforms the majority of similar products on the market. Last year, I decided to put it on the outside, and it made a huge difference in the amount of heat that came through the window when compared to using it inside, as I had been doing for the previous ten years. In fact, lowering the temperature by 13 degrees on the outside passenger side of the windshield, which is exposed to the harsh sun from noon to dark and is unprotected, was a successful experiment. The single piece covered 1/3 of the driver's side windshield, the entire passenger side, and then around the curve, where I secured that side of it to the body, which seemed enormous to me here in the Arizona desert. Holding it in place with 10" strips of gorilla tape spaced about 3' apart is something I do that not everyone likes. October was the only time I had to redo the tape. Isopropyl alcohol worked well to remove the residue, which did not harm the paint or finish. There must still be some space between the bubble and the window, so the bubble side should face the window. I bought a 50' roll of the same product and cut it to fit each window and added velcro to fasten it in place so I can remove it seasonally. For other west-facing windows and ceiling vents, I bought a 50' roll of the same product and cut it to fit each window and added velcro to fasten it in place so I can remove it seasonally.

Do you think using double-sided tape would help it stay put?

It has velcro on it. It performs admirably.

Is this effective at reducing or preventing window condensation?

It hasn't completely eliminated condensation in our travel trailer, but it does an excellent job of keeping the heat out in the summer and the cold out in the winter. I hope this has been of assistance.

I've put a Sun shield on you, so be careful
3/5

Be cautious; I followed the instructions and placed the Sun Shield on the inside of my camper door window, but the sun's reflection melted the window's plastic frame. The glass was shattered. The replacement cost me more than a hundred dollars.

Allow me to have a good night's sleep
5/5

After seeing my friend's camper, I decided to purchase this door cover. Because of all the reading, pictures, and Velcro attachment, I was skeptical. When I went camping, I noticed one on the door of a friend's camper. When I looked at it, I realized how useful it was. My camper's front door is directly across from my bed. The bright glare from the front door window wakes me up every morning as the sun rises. I'm finally able to get some shut-eye. There will be no glare from now on.

It does what it says
5/5

This product is well-made, and it works well in the summer to keep the sun and heat out of our fifth-wheel RV windows. It significantly reduces the indoor temperature and allows the air conditioner to operate more efficiently. Because the product has small air bubbles embedded in the design that act as an insulator, it helps insulate the windows in the winter. Overall, a fantastic product; just make sure you get the right size. I prefer a size that is slightly larger than the window to allow for full coverage and some overlap; if you choose a size that is smaller than the window, you will not receive the full benefits of the product; this product, in my opinion, should only be used inside on the interior and not outside. I wouldn't recommend cutting this to size for a window because it has finished edges that could unravel or cause issues with the product if cut; instead, I'd fold it to fit and leave the finished edges alone.

Too thin
3/5

For my camper's doors, I purchased two Camco sunshield door window covers. My money was completely squandered on them. They're small and folded when you get them. The crease allows light to pass through. Worse, they don't stay up for very long. Before applying them, I used the sticky pads that came with them and followed the instructions for cleaning the window frame. They were both knocked out. Then I went out and bought command velcro (for the photos) and reinstalled them. Even though it lasted a little longer, it eventually dissipated. Because our camper has head banging pads above both doors, I decided to use king size pillow cases and simply fold over the pad above the door. This worked so well that I purchased black cases and use them at night and when the camper is not in use. Instead of purchasing this product, I should have cut a piece of reflectix to fit the window and tested it with the command product directly on the window. The Camco product is intended to cover the window and secure it to the doorframe. For the time being, I'll stick with the pillowcase solution, but in my next camper, I'll investigate windowless doors.

Sun shields of exceptional quality
5/5

I bought these to act as a sort of awning for my teardrop's crank-out side windows, and they work perfectly. It appears to keep a lot of the heat out, as well as providing sun protection for those times when we want it dark. We obviously don't wear them while moving or driving, but the velcro strips provided keep them secure when we're standing still. The only criticism is that the velcro is white, which contrasts badly with the dark windows, but this is purely a matter of taste.

I'm sure I'll buy some more
5/5

Until I installed this reflective material, I had no idea how much heat was being radiated into our rv in Arizona through one picture window. There were no cuts made because it was a perfect fit for me. The Velcro is of surprising high quality, and I only used about half of what was provided, which is extremely unusual. This is fantastic. br> This book comes highly recommended.

My rv doors have a window that is the perfect size for it
5/5

My rv doors have a window that is the perfect size for it. Instead of using the Velcro strips, I followed another reviewer's advice and installed the window by removing some of the screws. Because I was afraid of tearing it, I covered it with a small piece of thick clear tape before inserting the window screw. Even with the door open and the wind, it has held up well. I ordered two more because they're the ideal size for the kitchen and lift windows. I attached them by removing and using the window screws as well, but only at the top so that I can flip them up and still have access to and open the windows as needed.

Excellent value for a product that you will adore! Our bedroom would, of course, face south and receive all-day sunlight
5/5

Before I realized what was going on, we had spent an entire season in that room that was way too hot. What a stark contrast! Our camper's back bedroom lacks the same level of air conditioning as the rest of the camper, making it nearly unbearable at night when the sun shines all day. br>br>This has made a significant difference. I almost couldn't believe it when the temperature dropped so drastically! You will not be disappointed with your purchase; I only wish I had discovered it sooner.
