Questions & Answers
Is there any lead in this product?
Yes. It's the ideal size for the 14-inch outside diameter steering wheel found on Civics from the eighth generation. It takes about five minutes to stretch it out with a blow dryer, but once it's on, it looks and feels great.
Yes! if is 13. 5 Inches!
It appears to be attractive, but it is far too small for my vehicle.

Because it contains lead, this product should not be sold. And, given the manufacturer's response (or lack thereof) to my inquiry, I'm not sure why BDK Auto is allowed to sell products on Amazon in the first place. br>br>When I first received the steering wheel cover, the design/look exceeded my expectations, and I was excited to put it on my steering wheel. . . until I noticed the following notice. This product contains chemicals, including lead, that have been linked to cancer, birth defects, and other reproductive harm in the state of California. After touching something, wash your hands. "br>br>How about a lead-filled steering wheel cover? After handling, should I wash my hands? Who in their right mind would create such a product, especially since the warning does not state that it MAY contain lead. It clearly states that lead is present. I called Amazon to see if I could get more specific information about why the CA required notice was applied to this product; Amazon didn't have any, but they did provide me with the phone number for the manufacturer, BDK Auto. br>br>I called BDK to speak with someone who could answer some specific questions about this product, and I was transferred to a gentleman who listened to my question, paused, said he'd have to look into it for a minute, and then hung up. I called him back, giving him the benefit of the doubt that he didn't hang up on purpose. Nobody picked up the phone this time. I paused for a few moments before trying again. When I called the third time, the woman who answered said there was no one available to speak with. When I insisted on speaking with someone, she asked if my question was related to the CA warning notice (leading me to believe I'm not the only one who has called about this notice). She was adamant about not transferring me to anyone else, so the conversation was tense. She stated at one point that she doesn't normally answer the phone and that she wasn't required to do so when I called. Another evasive response was that BDK merely sells the product and that I should contact China. Regardless, she insisted that no one was available to speak with me (despite the fact that I had already been transferred the first time I called). At that point, I should've given up, but I didn't. She eventually offered to send me an email address for someone who she claimed could answer my questions, but she insisted there was no one there I could speak with and no other phone number I could call. When I pointed out that she appeared to be attempting to avoid answering my question, she claimed that I was refusing the service she was offering (an email address). br>br>As a result, I'm left with the following queries: Why would anyone make a steering wheel cover with lead in it? How could Motor Trend license its name to such a product, and how could Amazon sell a lead-based product? How could Amazon allow BDK to sell anything on their site? br>br>As a result of my experience, Amazon graciously refunded my purchase price, and I will NOT be using this cover. It's a risky purchase.
I needed something that was both comfortable and attractive, and I searched high and low for the perfect one, and I can confidently say that this is it! Because the sides of my Civic's steering wheel are a little bulkier than other cars', this steering wheel cover fits like a glove in my opinion. I did break a sweat trying to get it on perfectly, but I should have let it warm up like the instructions said so it could stretch a little more, but I couldn't help myself! The side grips make driving even more comfortable, and after a few days, you won't even notice it's there, and your steering wheel will look fantastic! If you're looking, stop looking and click buy because I couldn't have asked for anything better! Thank you for saving my wallet as well as my steering wheel!.
It appeared to be fine until I read the small print at the bottom, which stated, "This product contains lead. " After each use, wash your hands. " I know that warning is on a lot of products, especially electronics with solder, but it still seems strange that it would be on a steering wheel cover that you use every day.
This product was purchased to cover the cracking and peeling of my original steering wheel, as was the case with many others. To be honest, I'm probably going to take it down soon. It fits perfectly and is extremely attractive, but the stitching is extremely harsh on your hands. Even 30 minutes after my drive, my hands are still a little raw from gliding over all of the stitching! Another gripe is that this product is advertised as a way to protect your hands from heat and cold. I can say with certainty that this wheel cover heats up more than my bare bones steering wheel after installing it in my vehicle on a 90-degree day. br>br>The only bright spot about this product is how easy it is to install. It fits extremely well, despite the fact that it requires a lot of effort and force.
Prop 65 warnings should be included, as well as a statement on the product's page stating that it contains lead. This is a deceptive practice, as the fine print on the back of the paper insert almost fooled me.
It looks fantastic on my Honda Civic coupe from 2006. Most importantly, it's a perfect fit! I tried a Wal-Mart brand. It was too loose on the steering wheel cover from mart. I took out my phone and went to Amazon, where I discovered this as the most popular steering wheel cover for a Honda Civic, and the reviews are overwhelmingly positive!
Tip: To make the installation process simpler;
- Heat it up by leaving it in the sun for a while or, in my case, using a heat gun to expedite the process.
So I bought this for my 2008 Honda Civic, and it's perfect. When I'm driving, it's comfortable in my hands and doesn't get too hot. That's impressive, especially considering I live in the pits of hell known as southern Arizona, where everything is black. br>br>It's also very simple to install. I installed the steering wheel cover after setting it on top of my trashcans one day while I was off. It's that easy! If you don't have access to cancer-causing heat, use a blow dryer or place it in a clothes dryer on high. It should only take about 15 minutes. Make sure to work on one side at a time, and you'll have it done in no time. br>br>My only major complaint is that the stitching on both sides is uneven, and I made sure to install it so that it would match the steering wheel. The padded grips are at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock, respectively. I see it on a daily basis, and while it used to irritate me, since installing the cover, I've grown accustomed to it. Oh, and contrary to the title, the stitching is not "gray. " Definitely not gray, but definitely off white. br>br>During this summer, the cover has performed admirably. Only time will tell how well it will hold up in the long run.
