The steering wheel was too thick for my CRV, so it didn't fit.
On a 2018 Camry hybrid xle, I used this specifically. It is a good match.
I'm not sure if it fits the 2017 Tucson, but I believe it does. I'd suggest just buying it and using it on the passenger side if it doesn't fit or returning it. It's convenient for casual dining on either side, whether it's a burger or something else.
It's made out of a single piece of plastic that has been molded. I'm not sure where you'd put a silicon edging piece. The edges are rounded, and the "seam" that connects the two halves does not come into contact with the steering wheel. I, too, own a leather wheel and use it frequently! There are no scratches or wear marks on the area where it sits. When I put it on and take it off, I raise the front edge high enough so that no part of it slides along the leather. For me, it appears to be working quite well. It's incredible how a simple piece of plastic can alter your life while you're behind the wheel!

Yes, it's a hollow plastic piece that connects to your (stationary) steering wheel. Is it actually required? I thought to myself at first, "No, I'm just buying this because I have an Amazon credit and can't think of anything else I need. " (I was mistaken, and I ended up spending more money in the end. ) LOL) I was still laughing a little on the inside when this tray arrived, so I went out to the garage and put it on my steering wheel. Yes, it worked (I drive a 2019 MINI Cooper S 2 Door) and appeared to be reasonably durable. I slid it next to the front passenger seat and promptly forgot about it over the weekend. Monday arrives, and I'm off to work (during the week, I work on the road and am usually in my car). When I arrive at my first stop, I pull out my work iPad to check in and provide updates to the rest of my team. Then there's a loud DING! The tray comes to mind. Take it out of the back of the seat and secure it to the steering wheel. I had another quick guffaw and slid the iPad onto it. BOOM! I didn't have to stoop to look at the screen because I had an instant desk. Take the top spot! At this point, I thought it was well worth the five stars. Then comes the most important meal of the day: lunch! Working on the road, on the other hand, has some drawbacks. One, you won't be able to heat anything you'd normally bring from home for lunch. As a result, I frequently order takeout or order from a drive-through window. So, what do I do now? Take out my trusty new pal and I'll feel like I'm dining in one of NYC's fabled five-star restaurants! I couldn't be happier with my purchase (except for the fact that it felt like it would bend in half when I put my Big Gulp on it, but that's because it's a Big Gulp, and the weight of those drinks could snap a small man's hand) DO IT if you, like me, work on the road. The black tray is from a different company, and it costs about $4 less. Except for the color, there is no visual difference between the two products in a side-by-side comparison. Both were tough and did a great job. The color of the tray was, in my opinion, the only difference. They're perfect for what I'm using them for: Tesla Model Y is expected to arrive in 2020. Ram 1500 Ecodiesel (2018 model).
This tray can also be used as a food tray. However, unless it's very light, I wouldn't use it as a laptop tray. My arms feel like they're going to bend and collapse if I rest them on top of the tray. The hollow plastic has a children's toy feel to it. It's a good fit for my 2016 Toyota Avalon. It's functional, but not heavy-duty.
Check out this Amazon item that improved my life! I have to say, for the price, I am very impressed with this tray; it was on sale, and I paid around $6 for it. I usually eat my breakfast in my car outside of the office, and I despise having my food placed on my lap. This tray is revolutionary because it easily attaches to the steering wheel and fits a wide range of vehicles. The Grey doesn't appear to scratch, but it is injection molded, so don't pour water into the seam hole when washing it, which you should do, so nothing gets wet. But believe me when I say that it is well worth the effort.
It performs admirably. You will receive exactly what you see. All you have to do now is slide it under the steering wheel and you're ready to go. It's ideal for grabbing a quick bite to eat on the go or writing something down.
I haven't used it because it's difficult to install on a steering wheel, so I can't say whether it's sturdy enough to hold anything, especially a hot beverage. It turned out to be a complete waste of money.
I have a 2017 Hyundai Elantra Eco, and the steering wheel worked perfectly for me. I wouldn't use it while driving because the steering wheel will need to rotate at some point, and this board will be installed/located directly beneath your hand.
It's exactly what I'm looking for to eat lunch in my car due to the fact that I'm driving.
