It has and hasn't in the past. I only needed to take it out once, and that was enough to convince me to pack it with my checkbook. in bag.
Yes, you can take off and put back on the safety clip as needed.
My package contained two, but I had not given it much thought. My wife and I both have key chains that are the same color. We've both misplaced keys on numerous occasions.
Thankfully, I've never had to use it underwater to break a window. This product, however, was not able to withstand the Florida sun. My car is hot.

To begin, I'd like to express my gratitude for the fact that I've never had to use this ingenious device. However, I hung this in my car for quick access, thinking in a panic that I didn't want to be looking for my keys or if this had flown to somewhere else in the car during the impact. Needless to say, the plastic hasn't held up well in the Florida heat. The part that was spring-loaded popped off. Because the plastic piece is missing, I'm not sure if this wood will shatter out the window if it is needed now.
Test it. Using the zip tie that came with it, I've hung mine from my rearview mirror. It's attached to the black piece that covers the seatbelt cover, making it simple to remove and replace. I was too chicken to cover the hole with my thumb, so I tried pressing on both sides of the hole where the little pin is supposed to hide to get it to engage. It will not engage if you do this. You'll need superhuman strength (or at least more strength than I have), as far as I can tell. TO SEE IF IT WORKS, take something hard but not breakable, such as a hardcover notebook (don't ruin a real book, you dunderheads), and push it against it. It's loud, and it startled me, but the tool has left a permanent dent in the back of my day book, where I tested it.
The puncture tool never expands beyond the plastic cover, which would be extremely inconvenient in an emergency. I can see the pointy piece inside the hole, but it is never exposed when pushed against something.
No matter how hard I pull, the black clip won't release, preventing access to the seat belt cutter, as it has for a number of other reviewers. I wouldn't trust it with shaky and possibly wet hands if I couldn't get it to release with dry, steady hands in a calm situation. I watched the company's videos (which were available on a multi-media platform). I looked at the pack page) to see if there was a release button that wasn't visible in the instruction booklet, but it appears that the clip will release easily. Because the tool will have to be returned, I didn't bother to test the window breaker. I like the idea of a small, lightweight safety device that can be quickly accessed in an emergency, but the one I bought falls far short of that goal.
There's no reason to be trapped in a seatbelt after a collision or searching for something to shatter the glass. I've tested it on a few pieces and it does both. I'm not going anywhere without it.
Hopefully, it will not happen - and should most likely put it to the test; However, after seeing these on the news (where reporters put them to the test in various situations), I purchased them for all of our car keys. We did have an old heavy metal hammer to smash windows in case of an accident, and I'm sure that would still be useful in some situations, but we attach this to the car keys so that, in the event of an accident, we have the seat belt cutter and window breaker at our disposal as long as we can reach them. A good little added safety item, well worth the investment.
Everything is in working order. br>br>At first, I had a problem because the black part that you need to pull to get the seat cutter to work wouldn't come off. I had to attach the key chain accessory that came with it before I could pull it.
The can also be used to smash windows. I recently saw a video that made me realize how difficult it would be for me to get my children out of their carseats if we were involved in a rollover accident. As a result, I conducted some research and discovered this handy tool. While it's too big for my keychain, you can clip it to your visor and have it easily accessible in the event of an accident. In the event of submersion, the spring-loaded tool can also be used to break windows. It may not seem like much, but for a parent with small children, it's a welcome peace of mind! The shipping was quick, the packaging was excellent, and following the instructions for testing the blade on a piece of notebook paper took two tries before it started working properly. Simply to ensure that any packaging residue won't affect the blade when it's time to use it in an emergency, I recommend doing this!.
