Questions & Answers

Is there a mounting cup and hardware included with this?

The bezel is included, but there is no way to mount it on top of the dash. Take a pod with you. It's as if it were made for you.

What's the best way to put this gauge together? Is there a way to connect it to the cooler line on the transmission?

If you have the proper hardware, you can install on the cooler line; however, I don't believe it will be as precise as installing into the transmission. I have a 96 Dodge Ram 1500 and there was a spot already plugged that I used; it was on the rear passenger side of the transmission; I would recommend using teflon tape or something similar for a nice seal.

What are the three most important gauges that I should purchase?

It all depends on the application you're using. A pyrometer, boost, and tranny temp are all desirable features for a diesel. The tranny temperature isn't required if you have a standard tranny.

When wearing polarized sunglasses, how difficult is it to read the gauge during the day? This, according to what I've heard, is a problem. ?

It is not a problem for me to see it.

This gauge has a great appearance
5/5

This was purchased along with oil pressure and oil temperature gauges, and it has remained trouble-free for the past eight months. Other gauges that can measure trans temp exist, but the gauge's range (80°F-140°F) is unique. It was easier to see how hard the transmission was working because of the 260°F temperature and the 270° sweep. Due to the fact that it only came with the temperature sender, a custom barbed tee fitting was created to measure the hot side of the trans fluid going into the cooler. Other features, such as color options and dimming, make this gauge an excellent value for the money.

It satisfies my needs
5/5

It wasn't difficult to wire up, and the instructions were very clear. The power wire can be routed in a variety of ways, but I prefer to keep mine in line with the radio. br>br>The sensor is threaded into the transmission's rear test port, which isn't the most precise way of reading the temperature, but it'll do until I can tap into the cooler line coming out of the transmission. br>br>The vehicle in question is a 2000 Ram 1500 with a 46RE transmission.

Color in the picture is a little bit off, I tried to correct it as much as possible but it is still 100% off.

To finish the job, not everything was required
4/5

I like the gauge; it functions well; however, I wish the t-shirt had been included. a mounting system, as well as a fitting and barbs to go with it I'm not sure why they recommend connecting it to the tranny's test port. According to everything I've read, these ports don't always become fluid; it all depends on the gear you're using. br>I went to three different stores in search of the remaining parts. I spliced in after splitting the line just before the radiator. I would have given 5 stars if they had included all of the necessary pieces for proper installation.

The temperature probe's cheap connectors irritate me, so I
4/5

I haven't installed the gauge in my truck yet, but I did a quick counter-top test with water from my coffee maker. I didn't like the temperature probe's cheap connectors, so I ordered a two-wire weatherproof connection similar to what you'd find under the hood of a car. I'll solder and heat shrink one end to the temperature probe and the other end to the wire that runs into the cab, resulting in a much better connection than the probe's stock one. This is just me being picky, but I live in Michigan, and the salt will quickly corrode the supplied connectors. I'll post more pictures once everything is in place.

My son couldn't get it to work, so I got a replacement, thinking it was faulty, but the problem persisted. When we contacted the company, they were rude and unhelpful.

I am still undecided
4/5

Hello! For the past year, I've had a couple of glow shift gauges in my truck. It was thrilling at first. You know how it is with new shiny things. But, more recently, I've been having problems with the trans temp gauge, which has taken several miles, ten or twelve miles of highway driving, to register. The sending unit was plugged into the pressure test port on my E4OD at the time. The temperature gauge now hardly ever registers. I'd sunk the sending unit halfway into the fluid in the bottom of the trans pan. The gauge has performed admirably. There are no problems, everything is still shiny and functional. The colors are vivid and easy to distinguish. I like the rainbow function, but I'll never use it.

Glowshift (94 Chevy C1500) Temp Gauge This is in a 1994 Chevrolet C1500 with a 4L60E automatic transmission that I have installed. The temperature sensor has a 1/8th NPT thread, and the test port has the same thread pattern as the temperature sensor. A word of caution: do not crimp the ends of the wires to the sensor before connecting it to the test port, as this will cause the wires to twist on themselves. I didn't use the orange wire because, as the name implies, I didn't want to dim them by wiring them to the headlight fuse; instead, I wanted them to "glow" as they should. I also ran the wires that needed to pass through the firewall into the cab, and before making a permanent installation, I tested to see if the gauge worked, which it did. This gauge, along with a volt gauge and a water temperature gauge, are all mounted in swivel gauge pods and look and function perfectly. I would strongly suggest it.

The gauge is solid
5/5

The price is well worth it, and the gauge is fantastic. Installed via the T option as close to my out pipe as possible in my 99 Runner. Installation is simple and instructions are clear. It not only tells you where your wires go, but also why they have to go there, making it simple to improve. It took me less than an hour, including rigging the included mount to fit a small "cubby" in my dash. The gauge glows well in daylight, about as bright as my stereo controls do at night and the 30% dimmer with my headlights is nice. It can be set to hold each% Overall, the gauge has exceeded my expectations. I'm also planning on purchasing the oil gauges.
