The female thread was either stripped or had a flaw. I needed to purchase a new compression fitting and female end from the hardware store. I paid $3 for it. br>Having said that, you'd be better off going to your local hardware store and purchasing the fittings separately. This is cheap Chinese quality at its finest. I was irritated that I had to stop working and drive to the store, which cost me probably $3 in gas and 45 minutes of my time, so the cost of this has increased from the purchase price. I saw this at Advanced Auto Parts for $10 as well. So this is overpriced garbage on top of that. Click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click.
I understand that the heat resistant plastic tubing that comes with the gauge set is supposed to do the job, but I've never trusted plastic in a situation where there is a heat source that could cause problems. I can now drive around in my vintage '58 Ford Ranchero with complete peace of mind.
Bosch is a good brand!" However, after the installation, there is oil on the carpet of my 1948 Ford, and the fittings have been stripped. Fortunately, the gauge's threads were not damaged (I double-checked with fittings from the old plastic line), so I'm off to the hardware store, where YOU should go before making the same mistake.
So much better than the plastic line, easy to install, I would recommend getting this without a doubt if you are adding an oil gauge to your car or truck, I already fought and lost with the plastic line lol, this line came with everything I needed and went together quickly, great product.
Brass nuts are brittle and easily break or strip. Maybe that's how they're supposed to be, but if they're not tight enough, they leak. Between a leaking gauge and some stripped threads, it appears to be a very fine line. br>Edit to add that even if you get it exactly right the first time and it doesn't leak, it will eventually loosen up and leak oil all over your floorboards.
My Rancilio Silvia espresso maker has a 5" glycerin-filled pressure gauge. It worked perfectly, and because the kit included fittings for both ends, I was able to save some money by not having to purchase adapters.
Easy to install, and I feel much better having it in my car knowing that it will not brake due to age in the future.
Plastic tubing was included in the Bosch gage set I purchased. This kit included copper tube as well as a variety of fittings to help me solve my installation issues. It was not inexpensive, but it served its purpose.
