Those specifications were written by someone who was high.br>br>The Clock is a cylindrical clock. It has a diameter of 2 1/4" (across the bezel), a length of 2 3/4" (at maximum mounting thickness), and a diameter of 2 1/4" (at minimum mounting thickness). The spade connectors that extend out the back must be taken into account when calculating length.
It may be a little too big and delicate for a motorcycle. It isn't waterproof, in my opinion. Take a look at Formotion Products if you're looking for something different.
The backlight is white, just a shade brighter than the other gauges. You might think that because it's brighter, it'll distract you. But, because the entire clock is so nice, but the other gauges are a little different, it's a pleasant and acceptable difference to me. This is coming from a person who is extremely picky. It appeals to me.
The nylon wiring connector on the existing Veglia Borletti clock that plugs into the car's wiring harness behind the dash has three leads that must be wired to the VDO clock with wire and connectors on my 1979 FIAT Spider. These wires connect to the VDO clock's power, ground, and light connections on the back. As a result, the car's LIGHT SWITCH, located on the left side of the dash, illuminates all of the dash lights, including the clock.

Before you buy this, there are a few things to think about. This will not "blend in" if you have an older generation of VDO. The fonts may differ, but it will fit the previous hole (52mm size gauge). The backlighting (which is much brighter) and the orange clock hands (which are too small and not visually striking) combine to create a bright display that can be difficult to read at times. There are two small buttons (at 4 and 5) that can be pressed. (One cw and the other ccw. ) 8 o'clock) to adjust the minute hand ) However, both are difficult to reach and have only worked infrequently or not at all in the past. It's not a big deal once the time is set, but I doubt they'll try to reset it again in the future. These are no longer made in Germany, just to let you know. Prepare to conduct a search and/or download of the installation and user manuals. On a more positive note, it has kept perfect time for the week it has been installed, but does that warrant more stars?.
The first issue is this: I'm not sure what the backlight looks like because after reading how bright it is, I decided not to connect it. I don't want to drive at night with a searchlight as a backlight, so I replaced it with a far-infrared light. too- This one has a bright clock. It would be nice if the backlight could be dimmed, but LEDs do not dim, so there is no backlight. Problem two: My main gripe is with the documentation, or the lack thereof. There is no documentation included, only a website and a QR code. To search on the website/QR, you'll need a product number. There were four numbers on the clock's packaging and label, none of which worked on VDO/Continental's website, so this isn't the clock for you unless you want to fiddle with it to figure out how it works (which is pretty simple).
The clock fits into the OEM V's hole perfectly. In the Fiat 124/2000 Spider's Wood Dashboard, there is a clock. br>To make new leads for the power, ground, and clock light that plug into the existing nylon connector, you'll need 16 gauge wire, 1/4" square female contacts, and a few wire nuts. br>As soon as it is turned on- The clock is a little brighter than the other gauges, but it's still lovely, and the forward and backward buttons make it SUPER EASY to adjust. It appears to be in excellent condition and performs admirably.
If the lights were interchangeable, this clock would have received a five-star rating. br>I dismantled it and discovered three led lights soldered to a double-sided board; I had to drill a hole in the inside and solder wires with a bright white Led light inside to match my dash. Changeable lights are available on all other VDO clocks in this style. Was it all worthwhile? br> br>It has a nice appearance and performs admirably. br>However, I was put off by the light. I'd like all of my dash lights to match in color.
It took some time to grind out the metal in order to add some extra instrumentation and the look for right in, with a very small power draw and no problems so far.
Good product, well-known quality, reasonable price, and prompt delivery I couldn't have asked for anything more. I'm extremely happy.
A good clock does exactly what it should, doesn't lose or gain time, and is well-fitting.
Any vehicle would benefit from the addition of a nice analog clock. It's one of the best purchases I've ever made. br>br>VDO is standard on Porsches, so there's no need to say more.
