The time will not be set according to the instructions by the clock. It worked fine except for the time setting switch (ground). br>Update: The replacement will accurately set the time, but the backlight, which is similar to a searchlight, cannot be dimmed. At night, it is extremely bright and distracting. I tried disconnecting the "ignition" lead, which would turn off the backlight, but this would prevent the clock from being set, so this isn't a viable solution. The backlight is not dimmed when the "dimmer" lead is connected to the car's dimmer switch. I'm considering other options. This isn't the clock for you unless you like your dash lights to be very, very bright.
I installed it and followed the instructions for wiring it up. The timepiece has been switched on and is ticking away. I went back to see how bright it was in the evening. I noticed that the clock was running three minutes behind schedule. I checked the time again the next day, and it was still off by a couple of hours. I'm not sure what it is, but my battery is fine. Recommendation: Purchase a simple 12v black and red analog gauge, as well as a 12v incandesce lamp for the dimmer.
I was looking for an automotive clock for a project and was surprised to find one for a very reasonable price that bore the brand name of a high-quality manufacturer. Well, this isn't the Moto Meter brand. br>Anyway, it's a good price, and it'll probably suffice for my needs. I'll have to wait and see how it looks and works once everything is in place.
I've had this thing in my dash for two days and I'm sure I'll never get used to the brightness of the backlight. It's completely absurd. It's as if someone is shining a flashlight in my face while I'm driving. It's clear that I'm going to get something new. This isn't something you should buy.
The clock appears to be of excellent quality and workmanship. I haven't installed it because I don't understand why it requires 12V switched power in addition to 12V constant power.
It performs admirably.
Excellent click, with excellent clarity.
It's fantastic! I was looking for a gauge, and I found it.
