Yes. The display brightness is controlled by terminal 3 on the gauge. When a 12V signal (illumination signal) is connected to it, the brightness is synchronized with the headlight. The display can also be dimmed using the keypad.
No, this interface does not allow you to connect. Sensor input should be connected directly to the gauge's terminals on the back. However, the gauge receives 12VDC power from the OBD2 interface.

The display is easy to read, and the buttons are solid and positive to the touch. The back of the terminal board is sturdy, with separators to keep the wires from tangling. The size was ideal for me; I placed it beneath my stereo, which wasn't being used at the time, and I intend to add two more of these (engine oil temperature and boost). If you're looking for a gauge for your car or truck, I'd recommend stopping here because this gauge is well-designed in every way, including accuracy, size, functions, and features.
In my truck, it works great and was simple to install. When I was looking for this, I wish I had found the combo that included the sender. I ended up paying a little more for the thermocouple on its own than I would have if I had seen the package.
It performs admirably and reacts quickly to changes in temperature.
It will also teach you how to properly drive a car: without jeopardizing your engine and obtaining the maximum amount of power possible br>The device is well-made, compact, and attractive.
For the past four years, I've had one of these, along with an Auber EGT thermocoupler, on my 1991 Dodge Cummins. It's worked flawlessly, and I love having an instant readout of my EGT rather than having to read a gauge like a watch. The LED alert is set to turn on at 1,200 degrees, which is nice and bright and attracts my attention even in daylight. I put it in place of my cargo lamp switch, and the display is small enough to fit in there perfectly. I set mine up according to their instructions and haven't touched it since; I'm sure it's capable of much more than I've used it for. I'm thinking of getting a second one for a boost gauge, or maybe their dual output model.
