There isn't much to secure it, but I might be wrong about that

may have bought the wrong item as I was looking for a storage option as well as a drink caddy for my older bench seat work chevy, so I am not completely sure if it is a replacement for the original item.

It would not be a purchase I would make Although the item fits true to size, it is not made from high-quality Because it was not securely mounted to the console, the lid broke away from the console as soon as I put it in my truck
