Tie downs and wheel chocks can be stored on this unit, mounted on the tongue of a work trailer. My first step was to drill some holes and use some square nuts The frame is attached to the plate by bolts. It was pried open with a pry bar a few days ago by some hoodlums who tried to break in. In addition, I added weather stripping to the lid to prevent water from getting inside. It surprised me that the latch and lock did not malfunction, and that the low-profile design held up In their attempt to steal my tie downs, life vandals failed. There is not much to the latch and lock, and it can bend easily, as has been stated in several reviews that it is cheap. Even so, the rivets held firm and the latch never broke. A good deal of damage has been done to the box as a result of the bend.
I have to say, from my experience, that such a box is well-worth the price. Again, be careful of storing valuable items in one. Since it is too expensive to still use this box, I will replace it with an identical one, and I will rivet some 1/8" steel bars behind the latch part to prevent it.
It appears that the Yaheetech 30x13'' Aluminum Tool Box w/Lock Pickup Truck Bed Storage came packaged as it should have and did not have any dents nor bruising. In terms of construction, it's well done and for the price, it's a great buy. In order to make it more secure against thieves, I would advise customers who plan to leave the unit outdoors to add additional locks and add stronger metal plates on the inside. I think it is a terrific idea to work on increasing the durability, strength, and anti-corrosion of this product There has been a burglary at The sides are reinforced with steel plates while the interior is padlocked so that it won't bend In this case, I would advise you to get a stronger option for a higher price if you plan to use it outdoors. Pros Please note A well-built component that will not easily break. Please note The interface is easy to work with (if you plan to add things to it). Please note Despite its light weight, it has a metal frame that bends Please note The top cannot be prevented from falling and hitting the floor if it is opened due to its lack of a chain.
This is a light aluminum box as described in the literature, and for the price point it is a very good My one complaint is that the box is not as I expected it to be. In order to prevent the lid from falling back on the hinges when open, there should be a restraint, such as a chain or cable. Metal rivets holding hinges will fail if they are dropped on because it is too light in weight. To avoid this, I installed some stainless steel cable from the box lid to the box. Although my intended use isn't as high-end as some other versions, this box is very well constructed and will work well for my price range.
With a steel tube subframe, I built a battery, inverter, and strap storage system that can be mounted to the side of a trailer tongue. In addition to mounting a solar cell on the lid, a charge controller is put inside the plate to keep the battery charged. Due to the 1/4" foam weather stripping inside the lid, closing the latch was made difficult, but it functions fine as a latch. However, the hinges of the lid are operating properly despite being bent slightly following the weather stripping force. It is likely that later on you will need to replace the rivets with bolts. I will still need to add a cable or chain to hold the lid in place.
Metal latches or parts do not have a zinc coating or are made of stainless steel and rust very quickly. Whenever it rains, take care to coat any steel with primer and paint.
The item is for a front chain box on a 5th wheel trailer I'm A good build and decent looks are the highlights of this device. I do not see any pores in the welds and the welds look solid. Her machine will be good to go with just a couple of dollars' worth of foam sealer around the edges. Aside from that, my sense of surprise was also heightened by the quality of the lock. There are a lot of boxes of this style that come with garbage locks. This one does not. I believe a chain box would be pretty good.
It is very cheaply constructed and has an unreliable key lock. I also found the item to be way too small and the dimensions did not match what was advertised. Do not try to find durability, security, or anything of the like. You'd better look for another option. I guess it's all a matter of learning by doing. Oh, and the delay in shipping was a mess due to customs inspection holdups. Your money will not be wasted!.
It is considered a light box by most people. That is indeed the case, but it is common with aluminum. My previous large truck box was also made of aluminum, so I was able to lift it out of the truck easily. As far as I can tell, this box is of excellent build quality and is ideal for my needs. There is a smaller version of this than what appears in some of the pictures. I was not concerned about it because this was just to save space in the bed of my truck. There is a lock setup that I don't really like. Unless you lock it, it works great, but the latch flops around if you don't lock it. There's no need to worry about it. I am really happy with the overall results.
