As a result, the tonneau cover popped off the latch during my 600-mile trip from Charlotte, NC to Orlando, FL, allowing water into my bed. As a result, I've lowered the rating to three stars and will work to find a solution that will satisfy both parties. br>br>Attention: br>br>Disclaimer: I've had a number of soft, low-profile leather jackets. With that in mind, I've profiled tonneau covers from a variety of manufacturers and written this review accordingly. This tonneau cover was purchased for my 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the 6'6" box. br>br>All images are from this product. In general, the product accomplishes its objectives - Make sure your bed is covered. This is the cheapest brand I've owned and reviewed ($199 at the time of purchase) and compares well in terms of quality and installation to the other brands I've owned and reviewed. Because the locking mechanism is only on one side and is not swappable, as well as the other drawbacks, I'm giving it a 4/5. br>br>Pros:
- Tonneau material with a low price and high qualitybr>- Installation takes only 60 minutes or less (depending on experience) and can be completed by one person. br>- There is complete weather sealing around the outside perimeterbr>- This tonneau cover has the lowest profile of any I've owned, sitting almost flush with the bed rails. br>br>Cons:
- I'm not sure if this is a manufacturer defect or the result of cheap metal, but the rails appeared to be slightly warped. br>- The tonneau cover is only secured at one point (driver's side), which is not only visible but also compromises security. br>- The rail that runs parallel to the tailgate isn't tall enough to activate the locking mechanism, so it won't latch while the tailgate is closed unless the rails are raised above the bed, sacrificing the flush mounting appearance. Furthermore, because the tailgate is closed after the tonneau cover is latched, the weather strip parallel to the tailgate does not lay on top as it would if the tailgate could be closed while latching into the security mechanism (see images). br>- The rail mounts are of poor quality and come in a pack of only six (6) for three (3) on each side, which is insufficient and less than what competitors at a similar price point offer. As a result, perfectly aligning the rails to the bed frame becomes difficult, as there should be at least four (4), if not five (5) mounting points on each side, in my opinion. br>- The thread appears to be unraveling almost immediately out of the shipping box, as it does with all soft tonneau covers I've owned. This has happened to me after months of use in the elements, but it has never happened out of the box (see images).
On the 10th of July, 2019, I purchased this Tonneau Cover for my truck. The installation went smoothly at first, but when it came time to tighten the clamps, the issues began. As I tightened the clamps, they began to move around to the point where they slipped and pinched my finger between the clamps and the bed of my truck. After nearly an hour of fiddling on one side, the clamps made the other side take nearly the same amount of time to install. After installing it and stretching the cover in the sun for a few days, it appeared to be securely fastened to the truck and the cover looked great. So here we are today, July 23, 2019, after a 350-mile round trip on the highway at speeds of 70-80 miles per hour. I got home and opened the tailgate, took some stuff out, and went to close the tailgate. When it was fully latched, I started hitting the cover directly on the cross brace. That's when I noticed the rails on the driver's side had dropped, making the tailgate impossible to latch. So I grabbed my tools and began inspecting the clamps. ALL THREE OF THEM ARE LOOSE TO THE POINT WHERE A GOOD BUMP WOULD HAVE KNOCKED THEM OUT OF PLACE, allowing the cover to fly across the highway, which thankfully did not occur. So, back when I first installed them, I tightened the brackets down with a 3/8 drive ratchet once I was able to keep them from moving. I went back and used an Impact driver that could only toque a maximum of 8-inch diameter objects. Each clamp is rated at 12 pounds. After that short round trip, they should not have moved or become loose. After a closer look and repositioning the rails in an attempt to get them tighter, I discovered that the aluminum rail had even more slip damage than before. We'll see if the clamps come loose again after we reinstall them. Awaiting an update.
This truck bed cover is of excellent quality and fit perfectly on my husband's 2017 Chevrolet Silverado Texas Edition. COMPLETELY WATERPROOF, DURABLE, SNUG, PERFECT FIT! br>br>We were unsure and concerned about purchasing an " after-market" product. If we decided to buy a "market" truck bed cover after Chevrolet told us the "pros" and "cons," here are the "pros" and "cons": We were given a price of $1 for improper fitting, rusting after prolonged use, leaks, and other issues. After spending $5,000 on the Chevrolet product, I decided to try this one because it was more AFFORDABLE. br>br>We are ecstatic that we did! The ordering/shipping process was "no-hassle," and the product arrived on time and was simple to install, according to the instruction manual. It has been raining for the past 30 days and counting, putting our bed cover to the test! My main concern was leaking, but I am happy to report that the truck bed is completely dry! Whew! When we go shopping or travel, I appreciate the extra space in the truck because we can now safely store our groceries and luggage in the truck bed. Our products are both SAFE and DRY! BUY THIS PRODUCT, SAVE MONEY, and PROTECT YOUR PROPERTY! br>br>Do yourself a favor, BUY THIS PRODUCT, SAVE MONEY, and PROTECT YOUR PROPERTY!.
I love how light this cover is, how easy it is to put on and take off, and how well it keeps the bed dry!.
After doing some research and setting a budget, I decided on the Gator ETX Tri-Fold. Cover it with a fold. The item was on sale, so it was even less expensive than when I first discovered it, which was fantastic. The item arrived on time, just as they had predicted. For the price, the product is of reasonable quality. You can install and uninstall it as needed, and almost immediately after I turned it on, we had a significant rainstorm. Despite the very heavy rain, I popped open the tailgate after the rain and discovered the inside bed area was bone dry. Look no further if you're looking for a tonneau cover that's affordable, of good quality, and easy to use while also looking great. Place your order right now!.
I can see all of the cross pipes while driving because the material is so thin. When it rains, the cover also holds a lot of water; I've never had a cover do that before, and I've got four trucks with bed covers.
