Napier's truck tents are the only ones on the market with a full floor, allowing you to stay clean and dry while away from your truck.
Most pick-up trucks (see sizing chart) will fit, including those with a toolbox or bedliner.
The full rainfly protects you from the elements.
Setup is simplified thanks to the color-coded pole and sleeve assembly.
There's a lot of space inside, with more than 5. Headroom is 6' tall.

Questions & Answers

My boyfriend's Tundra bed is 6', but he claims it can be extended to 8' or 12' with the tailgate down. So, how big should I go?

The tent is only long enough to reach the end of the bed - Because ours is a 5' bed, I bought it for a 5'. If the truck's bed is 6', I'd go with that option. The straps allow you to connect it and adjust it as needed, so you'll be fine.

Is it true that a tool box in an 8 foot bed necessitates a different size tool box?

My tent fits perfectly in the back of my truck with the tailgate down because I have a 5' bed. With that size of truck bed and the straps attached to the sides of the truck, I don't think you'd have any trouble fitting it in behind the toolbox.

Is it possible to close the tent windows without a rain fly for privacy?

The door closes with a zipper, but the windows are nothing more than a screen. To "close" the windows, you must put the rain guard in place.

Is it possible to order a smaller size to fit a built-in tool box in the truck bed, or does it have to be flush with the cab?

Hi Sybil- No, you don't want to order a smaller size; the tool box will fit in the tent if it's against the cab. You want to make sure the tent doesn't have any sharp edges that could catch on it. For a truck bed, this is a fantastic tent
5/5

Before writing this review, I purposefully waited until we had used the tent. We used this tent with a BestTop roll-up style bed cover in a Ford F150. We practiced setting up the tent before going on our trip, based on the previous reviews. The first time was a little difficult, but not too difficult. It was simple the next few times we put it up and down once we had it. Nothing broke or malfunctioned until the very last day, which was a testament to the high quality of the product. When we finally disassembled the tent for the ride home, the string holding the green pole together snapped. I'll see what I can do about getting a replacement and report back. I didn't feel like the truck's bed was adequately protected. br>br>I had a great time using the tent. We camped in Colorado in temperatures as low as 40 degrees Fahrenheit and as high as 85 degrees Fahrenheit. During our journey, it rained a few times. There were no leaks in the tent at all. There was condensate in it, but it didn't leak. The top of the tent is covered by a net. It was fun to use this to hold our iPad and watch movies late at night. Our trip was made more interesting by the fact that we had to use our truck every day. I built a platform for a truck bed that had to be removed before the tent could be removed. We didn't want to disassemble the entire setup every day, so I just took the poles out, unhooked the straps, and folded the tent into the back of the truck, then rolled the bed cover over it all. This was a fantastic solution. It also enabled me to dismantle and reassemble the tent multiple times during this trip. It became second nature to me to put it up quickly. It could be up and running in ten minutes with the right assistance. Throughout the entire up and down with the tent, all of the clips and straps stayed in place. The string on the green pole, as previously stated, was the only issue with any hardware. br>br>Even with that one flaw, I believe this tent is of excellent quality and deserving of a high rating. It held up well in bad weather, was easy to set up and take down, and provided as much space as a tent for a short bed truck could possibly provide. The purchase was satisfactory to me. br>br>One thing you'll have to get used to is people inquiring about your tent. Many people came by to take a look at the setup. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> br>The customer service in Napier was outstanding. They quickly sent a green pole to replace the broken one. This purchase continues to satisfy us.

For me, it worked perfectly
5/5

This tent was used during a camping trip to Glacier National Park with my girlfriend. We set it up in the driveway once before we left, and it was simple after that. We set it up four times on the trip, and I think we'll be able to do it in five minutes. It's only been ten minutes. Rather than following the instructions, we preferred to lay it out on top of the truck bed before installing the poles. That way, you won't have to lift and maneuver it while the poles are in place. The instructions are sewn into the bag and detail the exact order in which the poles should be inserted. No poles broke as a result of following this procedure. Here are a few of my own suggestions: To take down the tent, simply stretch the elastic straps instead of loosening them. That way, when you install it the next time, they'll be the right length for your pickup. The pole that forms an arch over the door is the easiest part to mess up. It must be put together precisely as shown in the product listing image. The pole is placed on the outside of the tailgate support cables, while the fabric is placed on the inside. Otherwise, it will stretch out in the front in a strange way. If you make a mistake, you will be aware of it. Some people don't realize that all fiberglass tent poles can be easily broken if handled incorrectly, and the shock cords will pull right out if you try to remove the poles by simply pulling on one end. Be careful when inserting the poles and don't pull too hard on the shock cords. To assemble, they must be pushed through and then pushed back out. Because the tent fits over the sides of the bed, the bed rails create a shelf on each side, which is useful for storing items you want to find in the middle of the night. I found a $7 lantern at Walmart that was the perfect size for the tent, and the tent itself has a carabiner in the center for hanging just such an item. I brought a moving blanket with me and spread it out on the floor to protect the floor and our knees; it was just the right size. I stepped in and out using my large cooler as a step, with an outdoor rug in front of it for shoes. We slept in two cots, which worked out fine, but air mattresses for truck beds are available and would be interesting to try. It fit perfectly in my regular box 2004 Dodge Ram 1500, and while we were using it, I had a tonneau cover rolled up in the front. It slid over the rolled-up cover with ease and didn't seem to mind. A couple of minor gripes: the elastic portion of the straps appears to be far too stretchy, to the point where they don't appear to be capable of holding the tent in a strong wind. I'd like to see them feel a little more solid so I can be confident they'll hold up and last a long time, and the door portion comes with three straps that must be dropped down in between the folded down tailgate and the bed, then fished out from on top of the bumper, if that makes sense. The straps wrap all the way around the tailgate, parallel to the vehicle's length, and getting them through that gap and around the bumper is a major hassle. I'd have my girlfriend hold the tailgate open at a 45-degree angle so I could drop them through and reach in to grab them. Having my fingers in there while she held the guillotine up was a serious test of trust. I'm also not sure I'm sold on the idea of a tent pickup. This tent, in my opinion, would be ideal for a music festival or any other trip where you plan to park your car and not move it for an extended period of time. However, if you're going on a trip where you'll be driving somewhere, you'll have to take it down and put it back up every time you leave. We moved campgrounds all but one night on our trip, so in theory we could have only left it up once, but you can't get to camp early in the morning, set up, and then go about your day expecting to return to a fully set up campsite; setting up camp is always the last thing you'll do if you drive, and you'll have to remove everything from the bed to set up this tent, which I usually do anyway because I like to set up camp. However, for some people, this may be a problem. This tent has its uses, and I have no regrets about purchasing it, but it is worth giving some thought to what you are looking for in a tent.

5/5

We've had this tent for a little over a year and have taken it out at least half a dozen times, in weather that has ranged from hotter than Hades (100F) to colder than the North Pole. Hades (-) (-) (-) (-) (-) (+ 6F). It's been windy, rainy, dusty, and whatever else the weather has thrown at us. We have two adults and three dogs (one of which is a Mastiff). Rottweiler is a breed of dog that originated in Germany. This tent is lightweight, travels well, and is simple to set up (even by one person). With the ground tent, we were able to camp in places where a ground tent would not have been possible. It's simple to disassemble and reassemble, and it all fits back into its bag! There are only two minor issues with it that I can think of. br>br>The room isn't very well ventilated. We had frost on the inside from condensation when the temperature dropped below zero during our camping trip last winter. When you have a fly on but no wind in the summer, it can get pretty stuffy. br>br>On the bottom of the tent, along the tailgate, is a "hinge" for the entrance. We've discovered a way to get around it. Our initial concern that the dogs' claws would snag on the mesh was unfounded. It would be nice to have the "hinge" on the side, but given the design, I'm not sure how you'd go about it. br>br>I'm in love with this tent!.
