I have a 1988 Toyota pickup that fits perfectly; the 6 foot bed simply provides a little more sleeping space. I took the tent out to Death Valley over the weekend and was very impressed with how well it set up.
Tailgate? I have a 5' bed, and my tailgate hangs over a couple of inches when I lower it. Overall, it's probably around 6'8".
With a 6" platform, it would probably work, but the sides would just be scrunched up - That would be inside the tent, inside the bed, so it wouldn't be a big deal. However, this would give the impression that the tent had 6" less headroom inside. This tent has been with us for three years and has seen a lot of action. I actually went from a 4-star rating to a 5-star rating. I'm giving it five stars because it has wowed me. We were caught in a rainstorm, and this tent, like most others, had some leaks, but not nearly as much water in it as other tents that were pitched on the ground. I can't say enough good things about this tent! br>br>I was on the verge of giving it five stars, but the setup instructions were a bit confusing. This tent was a perfect fit for our 2015 Tundra short bed. (It's just a tad less than "fits like a glove": )) We went camping on a very hot and windy night, and this tent stayed put, but the sides and door area allowed plenty of air to circulate, keeping us cool. We had a lot of fun, and I can assure you that it was a great investment. br>br>Others reported their poles snapping, and the instructions did state that allowing the poles to snap together could result in damage. There was no issue with us. The only minor issue was that a few of the caps became stuck in the holes of the pole pockets. Nothing can't be fixed with a little glue.
I didn't want to hook the straps to the truck, so I bought rope and tie down stakes and staked them to the ground instead.
It was well worth the money! This is a perfect fit for my 2018 Toyota Tacoma Long Bed! The first time I set up, it was difficult, but the second time was a breeze. I recommend that you set it up and then forget about it for a day or two. When you need to use it again, it will be much easier. br>Instructions on how to set up your computer: On the top of the outer roof, grey poles form an X. At the tent's entrance, a green pole forms an arch. The interior ceiling is fed by a black pole. The most cost-effective truck tent on the market! When I first set it up (indoors), I thought it was the full-size truck version, but once I tried it on the actual truck, I realized it was the perfect fit.
EDIT: After setup, the Green Pole snapped, so I just left it alone. I didn't touch it; I simply left it out overnight, and it snapped. br>Also, this item isn't water resistant or waterproof. It holds a lot of water, despite the fact that it didn't rain the night before. Maybe I'll turn off the rainfly next time.
During the spring, summer, and early fall of 2016, I used it for the entire spring, summer, and early fall. Used in a Ford F-150 pickup truck from 2002. 150cm long bed It doesn't fit 100% specs, but it can stretch straps and make it work. This is my favorite tent of all time. I put a piece of wafer board under the tent to protect my back from the ridges of my pickup's bed, then erect the tent and add a foton matress inside (air mattresses lose air as the night goes on). Being elevated above the ground provides a sense of safety and security, and it performs admirably in inclement weather. In central Kansas, it has withstood sustained winds of 65 miles per hour and torrential rains admirably. This product is fantastic!.
This is a fantastic tent! Love it, love it, love it, love it, love it, love it, love it, br>It fits perfectly in the bed of my Ford Ranger XLT. br>I set up the tent in the truck bed. This isn't the case. I won't have to bend over as much this way. etc. . br>Very, very simple to put together. It took me less than ten minutes the first time I did it. br>It's also simple to return to the carry bag. br>I didn't get any instructions with my tent, but I didn't need them anyway. br>I was completely unaware of this. However, truck tents are not permitted in some campgrounds! You can set them up and everything, but you will not be able to sleep in them. Before purchasing this type of tent, make sure to check with the campgrounds you intend to visit. br>I recommend putting a carpet underneath the tent to protect your knees from the truck bed ridges. br>A twin-size air mattress fits perfectly in my truck. You must SPOON if you intend to use this tent for two people. -br>-br>-br>-br>-br>-br>-br> Scott.
On the first trip, two straps and a pole snapped. Because the green door pole was a little too long, it shattered, causing excessive stress on it, I couldn't close the door with the zipper. If it's really cold outside, you won't be able to close the tent's windows or doors to keep the heat in, and the tent won't breathe moisture out, so you'll wake up with the inside tent roof wet, which will drip onto your bedding. The price is excellent, but the quality appears to be very poor. br>br>On a positive note, the vendor return through Amazon was excellent, as was the selling vendor.
I really like it. Fits the six-foot bed of a 2015 Toyota Tacoma access cab. Definitely not an exact match, but it's a lot better than the napierz for the price. Now I just need to find an air mattress that doesn't cost four times as much.
Before we went out, we did a practice set-up. The unit is simple to put together. Apart from his age, my husband had knee replacement surgery last year and thought this would be easier to get out of than a regular tent, which he would have to roll over on his knees to exit. We have a Ram2500 and have a step stool at the bottom of the stairs to help us get down. It worked out perfectly. br>Benefits - Setup is a breeze. Secure. Airtight. Cross ventilation is excellent. Cons - It's difficult to break down and store. br> if you must travel to a fishing spot You're going to take it with you. You can't stand up (getting dressed) because you can't stand up.
