It would have cost over $400 to install the new lock at the Mercedes dealer. There are several videos on YouTube that show how the lock is taken apart and how very common problems are fixed. I found that one of the shafts used to drive a couple of plastic gears had snapped in half when I disassembled my old lock. It was impossible to put it back together again. It looked like a good idea to use an aftermarket solution, so I took a chance. Taking a look at it, it seems to be an exact replica. The lock worked as well as my original, so we'll see how long it lasts. I and just finished installing it in my car, and it is working as expected.

This cable works 95 percent of the time. It was the right length for the release, so it fits perfectly. As much as I disliked the price, it was still a great deal. In instances where it fails, it unlocks but does not pull open so I am obliged to lift it by hand. On the plus side, it works most of the time and fails less frequently.

A problem on my wife's GL450 cargo door caused the motor to click and activate but not to The safety lever on the inside of the gate is the only way to open the gate manually. Earlier this year, I had scheduled her Mercedes for service and asked them to check it out. Including labor, the part was quoted at $744 by the dealer. This popped up when I searched for the part number on Amazon. I mistakenly guessed this to be the same part! This isn't the part I thought it was! They spent less than a tenth of what the dealers A YouTube video led me to installing the software in a matter of hours. It couldn't have been better!.

The last wire was connected, the cover snapped back on, the button was pressed, and I crossed my fingers after watching a YouTube video on how to do it. The work I do is excellent, and I intend to keep doing it.

Despite the fact that this product arrived on time, as described, and was an easy drop-in replacement for the original one in my MB GL550, I was still pleasantly surprised. At least I expected the screw holes to not be slightly off, but they were all perfectly aligned. The cost was even less than a third of what the dealer.
