My knowledge of rail caps is insufficient, I have not used it. On my truck, clamps were used and they keep it in place. I hope this has helped in some way.
There are no such things as such. To remove the c- symbol, simply click on it and remove it It is the track of the channel. So the only way to do it is to remove the bed rail top cap. Once you have done this, you will see that there are already holes (for the post)made in bed. This should be enough to install a ladder rack you can make or buy. Therefore, keep a safe distance from your bed and try not to damage it.
A bar connects the two pillars that attach to the bed rail by way of an interior Using this bar you can comfortably expand the width, however the pillars have horizontal bars of about 2 inches that come from those pillars. You need a minimum of 5' on each side. It was the same for me when I played Ranger 4 as well. It has a width of 7 inches. It is possible to cut back the 3" off those bars and still have the interior bar fastened. If you're willing to pay the price difference, I'd recommend that.

When we went on vacation, we bought this rack so we could transport our kayaks. I was very happy with the results. Fits well and adjusts easily. The paint chips and rusts when it is damaged, but we have just sprayed rust-stop paint over it. Somehow my husband was able to stack all three kayaks on this rack after we left North Carolina with just one. We picked up a canoe in Boston and a third kayak in Maine, and somehow this rack managed to fit all three! The drive back from Maine to NC went without a hitch! Thank you for making a rack that is so high quality. Both sides of each rack were clamped two clamps each, and it held up well. (Our truck is a 2013 Ford FX150).
Upon opening the box, I noticed that all of My design of what to put on my truck would not have looked good in my eyes if this were what I was going to do. In spite of the price and the fact I will only use it to haul kayaks once in a while, I still give it a 4 star rating. Aside from that, my Toyota Tundra has the sliding deckrail on the 2016 model year. Since I did not want to drill holes in my truck, I realized that the clamps other people have used will not work for me. The install I used was Through the use of 3 1/2" galvanized bolts and 7 1/4" clothesline hooks, I was able to construct a system that does an excellent job securing the rack, yet allows me to remove it and reinstall the caps easily without causing any Please see the attached photos.
This fits perfectly in my 2005 Tundra with an 8' bed, and it works for such a long time that I wish I had purchased it years It wasn't easy to install them properly because drilling two holes in the top of the bed is required for each of the side pieces. At first, I wasn't sure I would buy them since they required drilling two holes in the bed. Using the provided bolts is the easiest method, they were long enough to reach through to the other side and are secure enough to fit the nuts, and I found drilling to be very straightforward. After installing these grab bars, which took me just about 20 minutes to do including putting away my tools, I have taken my 17' canoe with me on several camping trips. A hammock that is hung diagonally across a bed (across the bed from one corner to another corner) also soothes me to sleep. Furthermore, I built a 10' x 16' shed in my yard and was able to safely store all of my 16' pieces, such as 4' x 6" x 16' skids and other large pieces that could not fit in my truck bed, securely on It's hard to choose between these two It looks just fine, even though some rust emerged from where my canoe rubbed against the bars. I just wiped it off, sprayed a little black spray paint over the places, and it is looking great once again.
The pros are Upon delivery, the package was in good condition. The product was well packaged. There was bubble wrap around every individual piece. It is very easy to set up. I spent about one hour on it. It appears to be very sturdy and heavy duty for the price. *Cons Instructions are awful that come with the product. They give you only two bolts for each plate, although there are three holes in each plate. The reason I have 2 unnecessary holes in my rail is because I didn't realize that until I had installed 2 of the plates. A few details To drill holes in your truck, you need to use a drill. Purchase a carbide 3/8" bit if you have the money. Your rails will be gone in no time with this machine. Putting my bolts on the inner and outer most holes is how I do it. The material is sturdy, but I am unsure if that was the right term to use. In order to install, you'll need an Allen wrench and a 17mm wrench. It may also be necessary to use a hammer. It's a very useful tool for me!.
As I mentioned in April 2015, this is an update on my original review of this pickup rack. My first installation of the rack was There are racks that can be installed on most compact, midsize, or full-size pickups and are fully adjustable. My racks were installed by drilling holes in the rails of my pickup truck, but they could also be attached by clamps from a pickup camper. For my part, I felt more comfortable using nuts and bolts to install a permanent structure. The installation is relatively straightforward and is easily accomplished by almost anyone with a drill and basic hand tools. It took about 2 hours to complete the installation. I suggest that you paint the racks with a high quality paint prior to installing them on your vehicle. The paint that comes on the racks is of poor quality, and I would suggest that you do it before you install them on your vehicle. The parts of the bars I painted before installing them became rusty a few months after I put them on, and the rust stain started appearing at points where the parts joined. Below are some pictures of my F250 and the racks I removed when I traded it in for a new vehicle. In the process of removing the joints, I found out what caused the rust stains on them. As I installed the racks, I noticed that there were enough drain points to allow water to drain from In reality, none of the base plates had drainage holes. So, when it rained, the upright sections of the racks would fill with rain water which caused leaks at the joints, resulting in A simple fix to this problem would be to drill a 1/8-inch hole through each base plate into the upright bar. Thus, rain, snow, and other condensation will be able to drain and the joints will not stain with rust. You will prevent rust from forming around the drain holes if you drill the holes before repainting the racks. I have re-read the report I had the racks installed on two Ford F150 and Ford F250 pickup trucks, and they fit equally well on both. The racks were rust-stained around the joints, so I repainted them before reinstalling them During installation and after drilling the holes for the drain base plate. Designed to carry loads up to 600 pounds, these racks had a weight capacity of 400 The racks were used to haul Kayaks during winter trips in which I traveled about 1200 miles each way each time. It's difficult for an average person to load a kayak because they're so large. Even so, they're great for carrying Kayaks. In the past, I've carried lumber up to 12 feet long on the racks and pushed its 600 pound capacity several times with no problems. It is my believe that these racks are an excellent choice in pickup racks because they are well made and will allow you to carry kayaks on a short bed truck even if your truck has no bed. The price is reasonable and the seller promptly shipped the There are only two problems that I have found with the racks the poor quality of paint used by the manufacturer and the lack of drain holes in the base plate. Due to the overall quality of the racks and the reasonable price, I would still rate the bars as 5 stars since a person would need to spend much more money to get a better set of racks. In relation to installation, I would like to note a few points There is heavy steel on the base plates of the racks. Mounting the racks required in total eight holes to be drilled that were drilled with 4 different bits of 3/8 inch diameter. If you want to drill the holes in the holes in the base plates, it is a good idea to have several 1/8 inch bits on hand. During the installation of the base plates on my vehicles, I had to make sure that I had sufficient room on the underside of the bed rails for fasteners to be installed.
