Actuator hitch replaced one found on an old trailer with 28 years of use. As a quick fix, I've chosen this one since the old one didn't fit the mounting points and it seems just as good. It's a little thinner than the old one, but I don't expect any problems. I found bleeding to be straightforward as well. One of the only caveats I have is that it is about 5 inches longer than the old one. While that may not seem like much for a 45 foot long truck and trailer package, but I had to extend the brake line, install a new brake valve, and reinstall the brakes I had to have my truck's trailer assist calibrated, so it just barely fits in my garage now. Although I am happy that I have saved the old actuation hitch, I am glad that I was able to replace it. It is possible that you will not have these issues with a newer trailer.
It was a bit heavy when the old one came out, but this one feels more comfortable, it seems to be progressive and smoother now. It is important to bench bleed the unit, fill the reservoir and remove the plug and slowly push down the piston till fluid drains.
It is well-built and the auto latching feature is great. This latch can just be dropped on the ball, then locked on.
It is very easy to Deleted the old one and replaced it with this one. Good for the job.
There is a weakness in the metal on the sides of the item, which I find to be a little annoying.
You can use the hitch lock pin to prevent the brakes from being applied.
It should work like it ought to.
