Selected User Reviews For Shift Rod Coupler, Early Style.Beetle & Ghia 54-64, Compatible with Dune Buggy
Located in a 1958 VW Beetle sedan used as a daily driver, I installed one of these after my original factory coupler failed (as it shifted at speed). As opposed to OEM style, this one was very easy to install. It is however necessary to replace the lock screws with shorter ones if you use this on a bug rather than a buggy or rail, or to clear under the back seat the coupler cover. My star was knocked down because the one I received had traditional square head screws rather than the hex socket screws pictured. It would have been better if the hex socket heads were in place.
I am a serious man.
I use it on my 64 Beetle and it fits perfectly. Previously, I had one that was made of metal but was getting very flimsy. Shifting is now so much smoother since this fix was applied.
The part was perfectly suited to the 1963 Volkswagen. This would not have been possible with a late model component.
Despite being shorter than the stock model, the stock model was used.
I prefer this bushing over the stock one. Shifting is easier with this.
The fit works perfect, checked after a few days at the dunes, and it is snug enough.
The product is very well made and very.
